As someone who has made it on to NA-65 a grand total of one time, I'm totally down to start a new tribe when new servers land. I've tried once a day since then and never get on. Morning or night, there never seems to be space. I feel like limiting tribe size would help that. Is there a limit?

I'm down to play on another server when the "100+" open up with the update. 65 loving rules, but not being able to play due to lack of server slots is pointless. I get into 65 and don't know wtf I'm doing cause I've actually only played this game for like 3 total hours (another 3 spent trying to log on)

It's been downloaded 1 million times, I'm not sure 100 servers will mean poo poo really. That said, if it does work and servers are easier to get onto I'll be up for playing on a new server together. It might be kind of cool feelings things out for ourselves too without a PC veteran there to hold our hands .

I've got to wonder what's going on with their tech stack that it takes them so long to stand up new servers. I would assume they're just AWS EC2 instances or Azure VMs, and it doesn't seem like the servers talk to each other at all, so the length of time it takes them doesn't make a ton of sense. Either Microsoft has to approve every server they add (that'd explain why they add them in big batches), they're cash poor and can't afford to scale up too quickly, or they have some sort of crazy manual configuration going on with only one poor bastard in the office to deal with all of it.

have they detailed when the game will be updated to be less buggy/glitchy and when (if ever) the graphics will improve? those are my two biggest complaints since the NA servers are about half empty at the times I play.

The Xbone version will be receiving patches approximately every two weeks. Keep in mind that the game is in Alpha and still in active development, so bugs are bound to exist. 2) Probably never? Aside from potentially new models/textures, there's not much that can be done. The Xbone version is the PC version with the settings set as high as they can go on the Xbone hardware and maintain a steady framerate. The Xbone is not going to get more powerful, so all that can be done is to further optimize the game which is low priority right now and won't create a massive improvement anyway.

I thought 70 players would really be enough, but it's not enough. I love being a dominant/co-dominant power on a given server, but enough randos and it's dogshit.

Construction of the Cromulent Riverside Condo has begun! This game is pretty chill when I can just listen to football podcasts, gather materials, kill the occasional dinosaur for meat, and build a house. I can't wait to tame a dino so I can run back and forth from the base to my condo. Maybe a trike or steggo to have something decently large to carry stuff but no so huge it's impossible to do at fairly low level. Does anybody have suggestions on something that size? Would one of those para's be good or a trike I see spawn on the beach sometimes? I just hit 15 so I built myself a bow and can make narcotics so I'm not too much farther from tranq arrows Its Rinaldo fucked around with this message at 09:52 on Jan 13, 2016 |

So I'm a fan just because it's easy as a first tame, and helpful at low levels for hauling resources. A Trike is more useful long-term, but it'll take an hour or two to tame, and 100-200 mejoberries and ~100-150 narcoberries. Kind of a pain in the rear end, but it does make farming berries way easier going forward. I really wish they would make taming less of a time-sink. I already have a job, I don't want to turn on my Xbox and start working on another one. nah thanks fucked around with this message at 16:41 on Jan 13, 2016 |

I actually enjoy taming the larger mounts. Downing a quetzal especially. So many moving parts just to tranq it, then once you do you immediately build a temporary base around it. Throwing up spikes, harassing dinos, etc. Whenever I settle in for a long tame I try to knock out multiple critters and multi tame or set up a wood/stone base for future use. Smaller mounts that lose torpor too quickly just don't allow for this sort of trickery though.

Is there any advice you guys can share for establishing a base that isnt immediately destroyed the moment you log off the server? we have been rebuilding our base for what seems like forever. every night we come back online and the base is gone. we had a mostly stone walled base with metal spikes all around it and in such a way that made it really difficult to navigate into the front door of the base. the base had 3 doors, the second set of which had metal internal walls and metal doors. It just seems like without any kind of active defences you are leaving yourself open to the whole 'we have the time' type of attack that just whittles everything away while you're sleeping. the game can be fun but gently caress it is demoralising logging on to find your beds gone and all your poo poo. we had spent a collective 36 or so hours hoarding materials to make a full metal base. there is 5 of us in the tribe. are we too small? do we need to focus on having some Dinos?

Seems like you need some active defense. Plant X turrets and some auto machineguns. Past that, start making allies I guess? Just in case someone is able to log in, I got D/c'd with tanklyo in the volcano while I was driving Bastage back to base with 500+ ingots.

I have 76 engram points but Im not high enough level to be able to choose anything beyond wood based walls. Ive kind of been specialising in learning saddles but we dont ever have any dinos to tame.

Plant X is made by putting Plant X seeds, fertilizer, and water in a large crop plot.Engrams you need are small -> medium -> large crop plot, and compost bin. You find plant X seeds in the swamp, plant them in a plot, and use a waterskin. After that rain will be enough to fill em up. I'd tame a phioma and feed it mass quantities of stimberries to produce enough feces for fertilizers. 50 thatch + three feces of any size produces a bag of fertilizer.

Laserface posted:Is there any advice you guys can share for establishing a base that isnt immediately destroyed the moment you log off the server? I think you might be exaggerating. There's little to no way a partly metal base would be completely gone when you log back in, unless you're going a week or more between logins. The phrase "mostly stone walled" suggests to me that either 1) some of the walls are wood, or 2) the ceiling or foundation is wood, which is ridiculous especially if you have the ability to make the internal walls metal. The thing with building materials in this game is that the entire structure is only as strong as the weakest external point. You could have a building made of 100% metal except for one wooden roof and your entire security is still compromised because someone can bust in through the single tile. Pay attention to your foundations, too. A metal building on a wood foundation is really easy to destroy; take down the foundation and the entire wall goes with it. Thatch is useless, and so is wood. Stone can only be damaged by players, explosives, and one specific dinosaur, so it's usually the go-to if you can't afford mass amounts of metal. Metal structures can only be damaged by explosives, so they're the ultimate in security. Unless someone is extremely dedicated to trolling you, noone is going to even bother trying to get into a metal base. Explosives are expensive and it takes a lot to break a metal wall. If your foundations are metal or stone, and so are all your walls, and so are all your ceilings and doors, and your base keeps getting broken into, you've majorly pissed someone or multiple people off. If your building is literally disappearing as you describe here, the only explanation is that someone in your tribe is trolling you. Or you're playing on a private server with everything pumped up enough that c4 and rockets are affordable en mass. It just takes too long to demolish higher-tier buildings. And that's coming from someone who's leveled a handful of bases. Go into the tribe manager and make sure building demolishing is admin-only and see if that doesn't stop the problem. As far as active defenses go, Plant X turrets are very cheap, grow pretty quickly, and can be planted in large groups to keep even massive threats like gigantosaurus' away.

So this talk of different servers has me thinking, if we have players that only play on one server, they can still help the other server, and vice versa. In the Sopranos whenever Tony needed to make a hit, he'd call for some hired guns to come over from Italy. They'd fly over, get picked up at the airport, drive to their job, do it, and get back on a plane to Italy. We could have a fridge full of narcoberries reserved for power-leveling. If we need a hitter, one or two folks from Server B join A. They get accepted to the tribe, set their character to power-level to 20 or so by making a ton of narcotics. Spec for speed/stamina, give them rocket launchers or c4, fly them to the hit site then kick them out of the tribe. Any actions they take after being kicked out have nothing to do with us, especially since our hitters have never been seen since this is the first time they left our base. We could even stage pin locked caches near the target. Our hitters place a few hidden beds, then can stage continual attacks on the target until all of their beds are destroyed or the target is gone. We'd always have someone to do our dirty work, without getting the tribe's hands dirty.

In my opinion, Trikes are the 1st real gamechanger for all the norcos they can produce, allowing you to fast level. I feel like the dino progression is to get a steggo then a bronto for berries. Throw in an anklyo and doedi for metal and stone at some point. Raptors for low level travel then later pterodactyl and argents. A mammoth for wood at some point, and a frog or three for cementing paste. End progression is a quetzal and giga, then ya work on high level taming.

How are you dinosaurs passing out while hunting? Was hunger/food capacity also nerfed so hard that they are literally running out and starving until their torpor rises too high? Or are you hunting, like, scorpions and frogs or something? e: Also, WRT hunting for meat, it sounds like the version of the patch we got is the initial wave (ugh) before they buffed gather rates so that they are in line with how they used to be. So if you go out hunting, instead of letting the dino eat the corpse as usual, instead kill with the dino, hop off, and use a pickaxe to carve the meat up yourself. When you're done, put half of what you got onto the dino to feed it and keep going - the dino melee damage was nerfed but player melee was not, and most wild dinos will give well over the 12 meat you claim to have obtained on a complete run with a single harvest by metal tool.
