I did this the other day with Dragon Quest Heroes, because I wanted to get in the game and see how my computer ran it and if I needed to optimize. After I found that everything was fine, I started a new game and watched the intro. Still, I felt like I had committed a sin. Skipping an intro sequence when playing for the first time... inexcusable.
