This thread reminded me of my old favourite back door (heh!) porn site TheHun.net.

It was literally just a yellow page with links to short porn clips and collections of photo's but the site promised smut without any annoying pop-ups so it was cool by me.

you had the Hun and I think the other was Pornzilla

I used to play a lot of Tribes, AVP2 online and America's Army (especially v2.1). I liked the friendly fire system and autokicks in America's Army - I once was on a team where the whole squad was teamkilled at spawn by one idiot with an RPG. Good times. I think I was accused of cheating more often in that game than any other, pwning noobs all over the place.

Cheating in online games is one reason I never really played Counterstrike - I have no patience with cheats. Why even play an online game if you need cheats in order to be competitive? Trolling people is only fun for so long, and it is much more satisfying to just beat the hell out of people by way of skill alone.

to this day, Bridge in AA2.whatevs is the best shooter map in gaming history

that poo poo was intense

The Dreamcast had a built-in 56k modem and an optional broadband adapter which was hard as hell to find and super expensive so I just ran a phone cord to my lunix computer and emulated a PPP connection

all that just to go online and post "I am posting this from my Dreamcast, I don't have the keyboard, this is slow as balls with the controller"

fuckin loved that Dreamcast

Back in the late 90's I was way too busy street racing and going to punk shows to game a lot, so I never got a PC until 2003 or so. I used that loving Dreamcast to surf for 4 years, haha. I ended up killing maybe 3 of them, which didn't matter because you could buy the things for like $50.

Quake 3 Arena loving owned on that.

Yeah, there was a definite hierarchy to it. Like PC users with broadband were gods, then came the DC BB players, then 56k mouse and keyboard, 56k controllers next, and finally you had the Brazilians with 575 ping.

i almost forgot about this:

sega attached to a segaCD with a mounted sega 32x

i only had the first two as a kid thinking it would be great. turned out to have a pretty bad selection of games. like yeah, you had cds now instead of cartridges, but it still looked and felt like they were only holding 10mb of data tops.

holy gently caress I had that setup, was a dumpster fire

the pro move back then was when a new console was coming out, sell the console you had cheap to one of the kids that invariably didn't have that particular console and the games at less of a discount

I had basically every console from the NES through the Dreamcast at launch and the only one my parents bought for me was the NES

e- also about the browser wars, I kinda miss All Seeing Eye

I didn't get my first PC until 2003, so from 99-03 I used that loving browser

it actually wasn't too bad, and one of my quake clan members (lol, clans) even made a workaround for me so I could use the IRC

This is a weird one, but I remember back in the day there were racing games that came with plastic model kits, what the gently caress were they called?
