It wouldn't surprise me if Apple was gluing things together or otherwise making their products hard to work on. They started to hate "right to repair," and in the years I did computer service no computers made me bleed more than Mac products.

I worked with a lot of different generations of hardware, and it was weird to see the change from the era of stuff like G3 Powerbooks which were an absolute joy to work on to poo poo like the iLamps which were an absolute pain in the rear end.

It was one take per shot. So you'll find all kinds of production stuff sneak it's way into shots, flubbed lines kept and so on. On the other hand they did do some really cool special effects stuff, taking advantage of working on tape to do ghostly overlays.

I remember reading an article probably 20 years ago that warned that the plastics on cds would eventually fog and make them unreadable, and that they maybe had a 20 year life. that's proven to be untrue, but I do wonder what the limit is on that stuff. "owning" your own physical media does little good if it's unreadable.

I only recently found out that Netflix still does DVD rentals, they just don't really advertise it. It's probably pretty useful for the people around here that live outside of town and are still stuck on dial-up.

His mom recently passed and he's having to run around trying to care for his late stage dementia dad and settle him into a care home, as well as deal with his own laundry list of medical issues too. So he's not had much time to make videos, and the few that he has put out all under performed per Youtube's analytics so it's just really discouraging all around.
