In no particular order: Death Parade: A creepy, stylish exploration of death and the afterlife that nevertheless has a heart and a love for humanity at its core. One of Gen Urobuchi's best shows despite not actually being a Gen Urobuchi show. Sound! Euphonium: KyoAni bring the big guns. One of the best shows the high school drama genre has to offer, lovely to behold and filled with fun, charming characters who are richly and subtly characterised. Just wish they'd had the stones to commit to the romance they were so clearly setting up (one season after so many folks were mocking YKA for being behind the times, too), but c'est la vie. Noragami Aragoto: It's a pretty as you usually expect from BONES, and for once, the writing matches up to the visuals. A great, human little show that gleefully stomps on your heart every chance it gets. Deserves to be one of the next big things in shonen. Yuri Kuma Arashi: Crafted with the usual Ikuhara flair, it's an entertainingly dense show, strikingly pretty despite limited resources, and has a somewhat dated but still relevant and biting message. All this in a show about lesbian bears. Shirobako: Superb in every way. Believe the hype. Seriously, it's a warm, funny, and remarkably tense workplace dramedy that provides a great insight into its industry. Honourable mention to Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, a very good show that has not finished airing yet, and for Gatchaman Crowds Insight and Maria the Virgin Witch for being impressive, ambitious shows that didn't quite make my top five. Tae posted:Iron Blood Orphans somehow getting back to the exact starting point twice is weird. It's just a very, very solid, consistent show. So, an odd coincidence, but not all that surprising.
