Scott Porter did another unboxing today. Opened a Supergirl as a female fury. No dial info but an amazing trait and special power.

Trait - When Supergirl hits with an attack, after actions resolve give each hit character an action token. If one or more hit characters were unable to be given an action token, remove an action token from Supergirl. If one or more hit characters can use the Batman Ally, Justice League, or Superman Ally team ability, heal her of one click.
Special attack power - Scatter the human rabble: Supergirl can use Super Strength and Quake. When Supergirl has 2 action tokens, she uses Quake as a free action.
Starts with 12 Running Shot, 11 Psychic Blast, 18 Invincible, 4 damage.

Apokolips continues to be the most amazing army. Sadly they are very much an army and not a strike force. Critical mass needs 800-1000 minimum. As it goes higher it only gets more ridiculous.

Yikes, she's gotta be above 200 right?

Quadruple preview! Four Batmans, with a nifty trait that lets you shift between them as a free action, but no more than once a turn.

One of them has hyper-OOTS, one of them has a 12 attack, one of them has outwit that can last two turns and persist even if he shifts away, one is a standard ranged attacker who only looks bad compared to the other three.

Oh and they're 60 points.

mercy

one of my all time favourite figures was the DC10 batman who had a 12 attack for 63 points along with incap and outwit and for 3 fewer points these are close to being as good

are these in boosters or are they going to be a special pack?

So I gathered a couple of friends to give my new minis a spin in our first game. I've read the rules and understand most of them so I'm confident in that I can explain the game to them rather well.

Now, we'll probably end up with 3 guys, counting me. Is there any special rule for a 3 player game? Should we just go free-for-all, or is there a way we can play 2v1 that is actually balanced? Specially keeping in mind I only have like 20 minis for us 3, and all of them are trades I made for a boardgame. I tried to grab pieces that were rated as good in hcrealms, marvel universe, and modern era.

Just echoing what the other two said and wanted to that add that I adore this game and have been playing for forever and I really think that the more players you add to a single game the more it exponentially becomes a slog, to the point of being un-fun.

Y'all see these changes? I...am maybe knee jerking a bit but I don't like what's happening

I recognize now that I'm knee-jerking a bit too hard and being a little sentimental about this change that I don't think is all that big a change, on the whole

Basically I immediately thought back to tons of fun moments like deciding to do the dreaded mystic damage + push last ditch shot to try to kill a fig and double-guessing yourself the whole time wondering out loud, "he couldn't possibly be any deeper, right?"

I mean, that's a pretty big part of the fun, especially for new sets. Like, it can't just be the shops I've played in where "I don't know where this fig goes" is part of the common parlance

So that's like, weekly "fun" games where a tiny bit of magic is lost I suppose. That's fine, we'll adjust.

Where I think less is different is in the competitive scene. Most people will have their team's dials memorized so they know when they can stand to push or how much damage they can take. Any "meta" figs that have stop clicks are known by the hardcore players; that's part of being a "good" player is recognizing and remembering where the commonly seen "good" figures' dials go.

The "specialist" and "generalist" thing seems like an incredibly odd way to talk about the game design though. Are they basically going to do < 100 figs with regular (non-special) powers and then others that are "typical" figures?

I would definitely be OK with pre-carded era dials with modern era combat values, if that's what they're going for. Not to mention I'm pleased to see they're going to be limiting improved movement a bunch more.

Overall I'm not so against these changes, I guess, that is, until we see what they actually entail

I see the point of people saying that you never need to buy new figures again. Just have one fig with a dial that has the numbers 1-12 on it. Then any card can be used for them.

Everyone is saying Print and Play is dead. Did I miss that?

This is a good point, although with the existence of HCRealms and other databases it's not like the data was that hard to get before anyhow

I think Print and Play is dead for the new card sets, yeah.

My biggest question is are the cards going to be bigger? What a pain in the rear end it's going to be to have cards be differently sized

Hey a bunch of Supermen with HSS and other generic versions of heroes we've already had. The support figures are the real highlights: pick-a-power Alter Egos are nicely done and the few villains, along with Perry White, are incredibly useful. Superman Revenge Squad needs that main set Mercy. Surprised by the lack of Doomsday, generally movie sets are unconcerned with plot spoilers.

I like Perry a lot. Denying a figure Indom/Power Cosmic/Etc is huge

Will I be able to make a JSA team that is...good?!

Those pieces are absurdly good for that cheap. The Atom is hilariously good for 25 points

That aside, what's winning meta tournaments at the moment? Firestorm ID Card and Nick Fury or something?

At this point they've got to have Alan and/or Dr. Fate be over a hundred points right? I don't even think you can accurately represent the OG Green Lantern in under 50 points. The 90 point Anniversary dial is more or less perfect though

Part of me hopes a lot of these old school JSA sculpts get reworked into their 2000s counterparts with more palatable power levels, but that would be nearly 18 figures for a sub theme which I don't think has ever happened, because instead we need another Deadshot using a sniper rifle. I wish the JSA were just getting their own set instead of being shoehorned in with Batman villains.

The JSA have always been my favourite comic book team and characters, so yeah, I would've loved for them to get a full set

We saw their point costs at NYCC. Alan is 35 points, Fate is 40.

After waiting so long for any new JSA, I'm really disappointed that they're getting this crappy 'specialist' treatment. Feels like a slap in the face to long-time fans of the game. I don't care how 'efficient' their point costs are... if you pulled the names off these dials, would anybody be able to tell who they're supposed to be?

This is incredibly awful. I totally agree with you
