Really love the slow, jazzy Bad Plus version of Karma Police. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U66ZBGaGd1I Especially the "breakdown" part of the song. Real cool stuff.

The original, just in case: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJunCsrhJjg And even though it shows up on "worst covers" lists, here it is by The Cure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLGlDQRYJ9M because it's different and moody and I like it

This is basically what OCRemixes are to anything related to game music, if that's your thing. What if Massive Attack made the soundtrack for Phoenix Wright? How about some Metroid music sounding like Opeth? Or have you ever heard One-Wingd Angel done up in the French-Electro style of Justice?

The saga of Neil vs the Something Awful Forums was legendary back in the day. Nothing will beat the hilarious "concert" pics he posted of his band playing on someones back porch or the weird derail about the level of hotness of his sister.

Black metal cover of "Mad World". I've always been partial to the Gary Jules version but something about the wall of sound and tortured screaming that just drops into nothing at the chorus is a real gut punch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmZD0Wo-VYA

I can't easily find it online, but there's a version of Me and Bobby McGee by zmrzlina with Milk Chopper that's more of a sort of - sampled soundscape conveying the story of the song. It's pretty rad but doesn't seem to be on youtube.

The RubberBandits made this homage to The Knife's Full of Fire, but their version is about the mental disintegration of a Celtic Tiger era middle-management Dad as opposed to Scandinavian gender anxiety or whatever the original song/video is trying to portray. It's pretty spot on, they really captured that rawness, even down to the camera filters and the uncomfortable synth bits

A couple amazing live Tom Waits medleys from the late 1970s. They imo fit here because mixes his own songs with other songs, as in: Silent Night / Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis https://vimeo.com/33803455 Summertime / Burma Shave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LhKRxOgpPQ There's another version of the latter from the same tour, I don't think it has a video. Personally I think it's the best version of that song I have ever heard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4Hli4qKUBo. It's on a bootleg called Cold Beer on a Hot Night if you look hard enough. Supposedly Sydney 1979.

Also a fun use of computers came from using Microsoft's attempt to make a program that can provide backing music for a capella vocals. It seems most of these have been lost to the ravages of time, but at least I can still find Roxanne becoming the beach stage music from Mario Kart 64: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWYwY8GpuO0 e: And a rather less epic version of We Will Rock You: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22AWPW5s4EA
