When I was 10 or so my dad and I hiked/jogged 17 miles in Yellowstone because we failed at navigating and the 5 mile half-day hike we planned turned out to be 3 times longer. Made it to some lodge by dusk and I ate the biggest steak I'd seen in my life to that point. That's not the longest day I've ever done now but it was certainly the biggest considering my age at the time.
