Looks like the only thing I managed was paying down some debt and getting the timing belt done on the Avalon.

  • Figure out what the gently caress I'm doing with my yellow Century sedan. If I'm keeping it or giving it to my mom, the air conditioning needs to be completely rebuilt at a cost of $CASINO. If not, gently caress it.
  • White wagon probably blew a trans cooler line. Repair that, get it legal, and also fix the AC on it, because Las Vegas summers.
  • Gold wagon is definitely parts/scrap status. Get the title changed to my name, strip off anything useable for the other two cars, send it on its way.
  • Oh yeah, pay off the loan I took out to buy the yellow car. :shobon:
Forgot I did this!
  • Yellow sedan is fine. Once my wife gets her license, it will be hers. It's on loan to the MIL in the mean time.
  • White wagon is a boss again with the new engine. AC is still non-functional, but only because I need to raid the parts bin for a compressor. '96 Skylark will work.
  • Gold wagon is now a long term project. LS swap everything, right? :q:
  • Loan paid.
Looks like I did well! Either that, or the list wasn't ambitious enough.

I'm expecting a newborn in the summer so it will be fascinating to see how my car plans are affected. I'd like to think my plans are reasonable and the wife is generally on board with everything but you can't plan life out 100% so we'll see.

AI related:
1. Nailed it! 3 car garage with a nice house attached to it.
2. Done. I have to say though, I think I did this backwards. It's up there in the "perfect enthusiast family car" category.
3. Done. Need to make a thread about the GT350.
4. Decided I didn't have time to keep up with two cars due to work, grad school, and baby so I blew the budget on a single car. Pretty happy with that decision.
5. Nope. Not tracking the GT350 until the oil line recall is done.

Non AI:
1. Done.
2. Done.
3. Done.

2016 was a good year.

Didn't happen, picked up an 80s Supra instead. My friend bought an FB though so technically not a loss. :D

My resolutions:
* Fix the Hella lights on the Polo.
* Decide on if it's worth it to spend money on and make said Polo faster.
* Buy a faster car, maybe a BMW/Merc.
* Learn more about wrenching stuff and fixing things on my own.
Oh wow, I actually managed to complete my old ones, the Mercedes I bought wasn't very fast though (BUT faster than the Polo, which I miss dearly). The Polo was never made faster, it got stolen, ruined and then scrapped.

New resolutions! :frogsiren:

* Get money/a new job.
* Get a working car.
* Figure out what the gently caress I want to do with my life (this one might be hard).
* Be a loving, caring person for my friends and family.

*Buy a house with a proper garage/workshop space so I'm not fixing cars on my driveway with a garage full of bits of car.
*Part out the shitter UZZ32 that has terminal body damage and horrific alignment issues which I haven't written about in my thread yet.
*Find something old and Japanese (RA28 Celica, S30 Z, FD RX7 (sorry)) to put a 1UZ in, and put a 1UZ in it (GM LS series motors are rare in the UK, Toyota UZ series motors are not).
*Fit the control arm bushes to my daily UZZ32 that were custom made in Australia ($$$) and have been sitting in a box in my garage for 2 years while my car has been crying out for bushes because all of mine are hosed. Also new engine mounts (optional).
*Save up for, buy, and fit the only-available $1200 exhaust headers for my daily UZZ32 (again Aus only). It's apparently an engine-out job to fit them.
*Do an oil change on my daily (it's due next week-ish and I have the parts ready, this item is only on the list to guarantee that I'll have something to check off)

1. DONE! I'm now a homeowner :). The particular house chosen has a large garage and plenty of off-road parking :)
2. Done and gone. The doors, bumpers, and most of the interior is still cluttering up my garage, however
3. Sorta done. I went for a RX8 instead as they are so much cheaper and still kinda fun. No 1UZ as a more modern V6 will fit better and still make the same power. (and a complete car containing such engine was purchased for 1/3rd of the amount I sold a 1UZ for)
4. I bought the engine mounts! The UZZ32 Soarer is now off the road awaiting a full do-over (not quite at the restoration stage yet), and it will get the bushes at that time :).
5. Bought them! Found a set on eBay in the UK, recent Aus imports. I'm a lucky boy! They will get fitted later (see above)
6. Done

Not bad :).Time to figure out what to do with 2017. It't an exciting time for me - I'll be starting my first full-time job (ever), for a large industrial fabrication company who also happen to love anything car related (and have a "use whatever you want outside of work time" policy). The downside is working 5+ days per week and being exhausted in the evenings.

A friend just had to do this job on his so I'd do that before wedging it in. That said it's easier than the head work on a 7M it'd be replacing...

Indeed, before the name change I was 88h88. I want to do it so at some point I'll at least need some advice/help on getting hold of one. They apparently require little loving around to mate up to the Toyota W58 gearbox I have in the car already and the only thing I'd lose out on is the air con which has never worked anyway.

5. Not let crushing depression of current family/friend situations gently caress me up like this year.
6. Exercise and lose some loving weight. Ugh. I'm back to #245, should be at #215 or so. Bike trainer, walks at lunch, whatever. Stop eating carbs, delicious, delicious carbs.
7. Make a baby? Maybe.

1. Sorta? Didn't move metal/wood stuff, but there's a lot fewer parts around.
2. Nope.
3. Nope.
4. Yup. New product in the works.
5. LOL, semisorta. This year sucked, but I'm in a decent mental space.
6. 229#, workin' on it.

Garage is scheduled to be installed the first week of January.

This Facebook group is pretty useful. Loads of W58 conversions in here. For some reason, everyone wants to put them in E36's

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1491819467770491/

I sold my extra 1UZ on there. I have a guy who is willing to give me a complete (junk) V8 Soarer in exchange for some work on his car, so I will potentially have another one to sell at some point.
