Rand Brittain posted:I think you'd have to exchange them with somebody, though. Isn't the whole point of Rands that they don't interact directly with the world's mechanisms, because, if they did, magic could manipulate them? IIRC, no. One rand vanishes, upkeep paid. They're just a known quantity to barter with for barbarian casters. I could be wrong though. I'm sure some official forums sperg has it all laid out someplace with citations.

Phenotype posted:Well yeah, but I'm talking more about the direction of the plot. It's gone from Parson and friends coming up with exploits for the rules to a bunch of increasingly powerful deus ex machina ignoring the rules at will, and I think it's generally worse off for it. It used to feel more like the solutions were logical answers to the world around them, but at this point I feel like they could almost have a caster wave their hands and have Stanley, Jillian, and Charlie all drop dead at once because of special magic. They tend to foreshadow and explain the magical stuff pretty well, IMO.

Zoe posted:I'm actually kind of hoping Claude chooses to off himself here, and if it fucks up their plans in some way even better. I don't really feel like we're on the side of the good guys in situations where a protagonist is forcing the choice of 'die or be assimilated by the Borg' on their own allies. Wanda isn't the protag, to be fair.

Airspace posted:Honestly, I liked Wanda back when she was the second in command to less-chill Stanley and not really the 'avatar of Fate' or whatever she claims herself to be now. As she should. It's the lot of the protagonist to suffer and toil for his ending, whether good or bad.
