same... I'd settle for even watching solid streamer play, but unfortunately it doesn't look like this game has much of a public following at all....

They aren't really. No one plays the Live servers at all. Everyone is testing on the test servers as that is where the new features are.

Here are a few short clips to show what the game looks like right now:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDMGOs6U4co

They seem to be making the cardinal sin with stealthers being OP though.

hmmm, from both of those videos, I don't really get that impression.

Looks like 2 tanks(?) ganked some guy, then 2 dps classes killed them while weakened from the first fight. i was expecting some OP stealth gank, but that seemed pretty fair?

Are you playing? hows the population? Does an actual gameplay loop exist, and is it fun?

Here is a campaign end screen for 'Dregs' which is a Guild vs Guilds campaign. Dregs is characterized as guild-v-guild, and they are working on the alliance system and how it will interact with points.

The other campaign that seems fleshed out is called "Infected" which is the traditional three way Realm vs Realm vs Realm.

Going back to the Lazy Peon video I asked guild mates how long it takes to get to lvl 30 to actually participate in the PvP stuff and they say it only takes an hour so I have no idea what that guy was doing besides playing on the wrong server.

this video makes it seems promising

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQdDDyZP6G8

It also mentions 60-90 minutes to level to 30.... so, why have levels at all? especially if you level up in a separate PvE island?

Yeah, I mean features may not be completely polished, but the basic gameplay mechanics should already be cemented this far in. When you first log in there is no intuitive or instructed pointer for what you should be doing, working toward, nothing whatsoever.

Looks like the next patch (sometime this week or next) addresses this

Phase 3 of War of the Gods on TEST is Coming Next

Phase 3 of the War of the Gods update will introduce our New Player Experience. We are not ready to reveal the details about this new gameplay experience yet, but it will offer all of our players a chance to get off to a fast start while being introduced to the Crowfall universe and its lore.

otherwise, I think it's actually pretty fun. definitely lacks the polish of a complete game, but I think there's enough there that we'll have a pretty solid beta by the end of the year.

It's like we are in Shadowbane beta all over again. Large battles will be slideshows and I doubt they will be able to fix it.

also like shadowbane, battles are just going to be stacks of ranged dps vs other stacks of ranged dps with a sprinkling of healers.

playing a melee class feels really bad when an archer can out dps you from 65m away with 0 risk.

On the note of Shadowbane, the chinese company that bought it in 2012? I think, is now actively developing it and its in beta. They C&D'd the emulator(s) about 8 months ago.

seeing as how movement in SB was click based, I'm going to place my money on they're making it into a pay to win mobile game.

I got invited into the beta a few days ago (without paying) and I still feel scammed after playing it. I got to level 9 before deciding that it is not worth going through the generic grind to get to the actual pvp game. I probably would have hit 15 pretty quickly but it was definitely not for me. I'm an OSRS player so grind shouldn't be a problem but dear god it was boring. Watching some videos it does show potential but it is still so rough around the edges that I can't imagine it being very fun until much further down the line. But we'll see I suppose? Unless the pvp is already in a fantastic state, anyone still playing it here?

I lasted a bit longer than you, but ultimately came to the same conclusion. It has a very slim chance at being good maybe a year or two from now, but it's in a really rough state. I don't want to put too much effort into this post, and I'll try and stay as objective as possible, but the game needs a ton of work to come close to something I'd want to play or get invested in. performance is terrible, class design is not pvp centric or original, gameplay loop consists of leveling a character, grinding crafting materials, using those materials to make a new character, then leveling that character over and over with occasional pvp thrown in

It's really confusing because their website says "Players who have purchased the game can stay and play til launch!" Is this early access? Are they going to wipe the servers? Does this apply if I purchase the game today? :iiam:

from their official forums:

On Wednesday, June 23, at 11:59 PM CDT (6:59 AM CEST), the free Beta phase of Crowfall will close. At that time, players who have purchased the game can continue playtesting through to Launch.

On Thursday, July 1, at 11:59 PM CDT (6:59 AM CEST), we will close the Beta Live Service. At this time, we will wipe all characters, items, and Eternal Kingdoms on our Live servers, as well as reset purchases. The Test server will be available and anyone that has purchased the game can play with us as we test final updates for Launch.

On Thursday, July 1, at 11 AM CDT (6:00 PM CEST), we'll begin forum maintenance that has a downtime of one day. We'll archive all threads and posts on the forums, excluding War Stories, Crows of a Feather, and Roleplay, and roll out a new Forum organization. If you feel a particular post should be preserved post here

On Tuesday, July 6, at 6 AM CDT (1 PM CEST), Crowfall will officially launch our Live service! At that point, we turn our worlds over to the Eternal Crows, who are the champions of this Universe, mercenaries to the Gods!

If you have VIP sub, you can use a pedestal in the starting Earth Temple to skip to level 25. This can be done for first char or any alts. Without VIP I believe it costs a decent amount of gold to do.

In other news, I'm on a discord that has a bot that pulls population data from an API of theirs. I've seen game population float between 2500-3000 since yesterday besides obviously when servers were down. Currently at 2,627 players globally as of 11:30am CDT.

this seems.... low? even for such a niche audience, I expected more interest.

Dipping into blacksmithing now I am amazed at the depth of the crafting system, but also just how much resources are required to make basically anything. Wood to turn into coal, to smelt metal bars which take 18 ore each and at least two bars are required for any component. But different metals give different traits on the components, with different alloys also possible from different ores. A finished piece will take 3-5 components, and at least one of them will come from another discipline like leather working. That one will require meat to turn into thread, to use to refine hide into leather pieces, to use to make the component.

Like, there's so much going on, and it's really cool, but you need to really focus on the pack pigs or have a large group focused on gathering to generate enough raw resources to craft in volume.

its the depth of the SWG crafting system without the SW fans to keep the economy healthy!
