Hey, What In Tarnation Is This?

One common problem for LPers, new or otherwise, is finding a co-commentator. Sometimes, it's because our other buddies are busy, or crouched in a corner, moaning "Oh god, not MegaRace aga-"

...Oh, wait, that's just me. But still, sometimes, we feel we need someone to riff off of, and that's good, it helps you make buddies all over the world, gives you a bit of confidence, and, with the right chemistry, can turn an okay Let's Play into a magical experience of fun and laughter!

But finding a co-commentator can be a bitch, make no mistake. What if you don't like them? What if they don't like you? What if, what if, what if... It kills more LP relationships before they start than disagreements over who would win in a fight between Astrotrain and the Guyver.

We understand. And that's why we have this!

So, er... What do we do here?

Well, think of this as a sort of LP-Mart. There's folks "buying" (IE - Looking for co-comms), and folks "selling" (Folks willing to lend their beautiful voices to your endeavour!) I'll be doing what I can to keep a list of who's available and looking, so hopefully folks can have a reference for co-comms!

So, without further ado, here's how it works.

LOOKING FOR INTERNET SUPERSTAR, LEVEL 50 TANK (Looking)

If you're looking for someone, have a browse through who's around. Then, if you don't feel anybody's really your thing, post what game you're looking to do, followed by how to get in touch, preferable timezone and availability, what voice thing you're using, and whether you want someone experienced or not with the game in question. Here, lemme give you an example.

A Good-Bad Example posted:

Hi, I'm SuperSentaiGarbageCollector, and I'm looking for someone Inexperienced/Foolhardy to co-comm An Unedited VLP of Agarest: Generations Of War, preferably running on Moon-Time (Available Once Per Grand Conjunction.) Must be willing to sit through four hour videos! I use AIM to voice chat in my LPs.

Obviously... Do not be this person, for multiple reasons... The most important of which is you're probably not going to get a co-comm to sit through a four hour session, much less the audience. Also you'll have too much audience turnover. But I hope you get the gist.

I LIKE LONG WALKS ALONG THE BEACH AND CO-COMMENTATING OVER VIDEO GAMES (Co-Comm Profile)

If, on the other hand, you have too much free time on your hands (Go you!) and wish to put yourself on a general notice for Co-Commentating, here's what we need from you!

Super Important Profile Stuff posted:

Your Name
When You Are Most Often Available (Because I know quite a few of us have some pretty f-ing irregular sleep schedules!)
What Voice Recording Software You Use
A Few Specialty Subjects
How To Get In Touch

Anything after that is sexing things up, which is all well and good! (EDIT: A good example of making your profile a lil' more useful is... Hey, link to some stuff you've commed on, co- or otherwise!)

So fly free, my little LPers! Fly free and intermingle, as LP-Bot intended!

FEBRUARY EDIT: Please PM me to let me know if you've found someone, so I can update the lists properly. I'll aim to update the lists twice a week. This also applies to if you want to be taken off the co-commentator list. :)

THREAD RULE: DON'T POST UNLESS IT'S FOR ONE OF THESE TWO THINGS, THANKS MUCHLY!

Another means of getting in touch would be via the (Unofficial) SA-LP Talk Discord Channel, or, as we like to call it, the SALTCastle (Link Updated as of 19 May... embarassed koff)

I would love to help commentate on someone's streams or pre-recorded videos, I'm not particularly picky.
I've had a couple of live commentary LP's under my belt with multiple commentators under the YouTube channel Grizzled Beagle if you're interested.
I'm on Central time.
I'm available any night that is not Wednesday.

Hi, I'm Hbomberguy.

I've both completed and abandoned a bunch of weird Let's Play related videos over the last - oh my god, six years?! - and always relish the opportunity to never do any real work. I know a bit about video games (especially Stalker) and films (especially Stalker). Also I like to laugh at internet racists.

I work mostly from home and I'm awake almost all the time, I'm usually most busy at weekends.
I use skype, but if you don't like skype's awful sound quality I can record in Adobe Audition and make my audio sound better before I send it off.
PM me if you want, or use Twitta to DM me!

I'm in the GMT time zone but have too many American friends I like to watch anime with, so I'm around whenever, basically. Especially if you're a therapist. I need one of those.

I'm good at The Skype and if you got a Mumble I can probably connect to that. I'm not terrible at Audacity so if you'd like I can do a bit of cleaning on my audio before sending it in.
I'm also real good at a few racing games, I prefer absurd action games of all types though I generally take a pretty easygoing attitude to these videos.
gently caress, uhhhhh...PM me or DM on Twitter. You can probably find me on Skype if you just look for the me that's Icelandic and has a public profile pic, not posting my Skype name because the last time I did that I got hit (on) by bots a lot.

edit: I'm serious about the permanent DST. On winters I'm on the same time as the UK, in summers I'm one hour behind.

I've had a lot of success coordinating from a Google Calendar for this stuff. Simply tell all commentators to fill out the times that they are available. Google Calendar will automatically translate all times into local times for whomever views it. After all the schedules are filled in, the organizer can set a time period to actually do something. Which will then be translated back to local time for anyone who goes and looks at it.

This is the technique that made it possible to set up a Space Marine co-op session with me from America, Roboky from Australia, and 2 guests from the UK and Argentina. It also caused this to happen:

Anyway, I apologize for not putting my info up here, but it's likely not fair to people if I take on any other projects right now. You can ask Lunethex, I'm pretty hard to pin down due to all the stuff I have going on.

Drakenel
Dec 2, 2008

The glow is a guide, my friend. Though it falls to you to avert catastrophe, you will never fight alone.
Huh. Well, this is neat.

I answer to Drakenel, Drak, and sometimes Duck (don't ask) I've dropped in a few streams to chat, play with, and sometimes advise. I also took part in Lunethex's Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon city LP before my schedule made me miss the last recording session for a good chunk of the game.

I am often available in the afternoons and evenings. Typically mondays, wednesdays, and fridays have my morning/noons occupied, but otherwise I'm pretty open at central time for the US.

I can use most recording software. I have mumble, curse, skype... Though I think I was made to use OBS for commentary once.

As for me in particular, I sound pretty laid back (Some say bored) but I have a mind for games and am able to quickly grasp new ones. I prefer co-op games, bonus if it lets me screw around with my teammates, but I'm willing to try anything if I have it or it's not too expensive.

As for how to grab me? Well, to be honest, Steam is probably the easiest. It's Drakenel on there too (Though it changes depending on who in my family is on at the moment) http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198004735704?l=english . Same for Skype and Curse. Even poking me in this thread that you sent me a message elsewhere would probably be sufficient.

I mostly use Skype and Audacity, but I'm open to using other programs if need be.
I mostly play terrible fangames, so If you need someone for that, or for most anything general, I'm your man!
You can get in touch with me through Skype (heavilysigh)!

Kaboom Dragoon

The greatest of feasts

Hi, I'm Kaboom Dragoon. you may remember me from such LPs as To Teamkill a Hunkingbird and The Mask That Wouldn't Ever Shut Up. And YOU can have me make noises over your internet comedy video!

Right now, I'm available basically whenever, so if you have a burning urge to get some idiot Scotsman to talk about anything but the game at hand, you are in luck!
I regularly use Skype and Audacity, but have other stuff like Curse, Mumble and Teamspeak buried around here somewheres, so I can always adapt to what's needed.
I have a broad (some would say ridiculous) knowledge of games and gaming, RPGs, comics (see friend Fiendly's Punisher LP for all the horrifying proof you need) and many kinds of assorted weeaboo crap. Basically, if I know much about the game, the series it's based off of or anything related to it, I can probably talk about it for hours.
Best ways to contact me are via PM or Skype (dwstatic), though if you're adding my Skype, let me know who you are and where you're from, Skype bots seem to love me of late.

Hi, I'm ArclightBorealis, and I'm just some faceless 22 year old nobody that is available for doing commentary for someone who needs it. I'd also say I'm looking for commentators myself, but I just wrapped up another project I had been dragging my feet with near the end and I'd rather not jump head first into another one without taking a break.

I have an ungodly amount of free time that fluctuates wildly, but definitive times that I am available for contact are 6-10 PM Pacific Standard Time on weekdays, and otherwise available all day on Saturday and Sunday. Because I'm also generally secretive regarding all my contact info, you can simply PM about the subject, and during that exchange I can give you my skype ID, which is what I primarily use for voice communications. Though if you have a mumble server, that would be great as my experience using that to record a podcast with old acquaintances was much more preferable in terms of quality.

I have a lot to say when it comes to a variety of video game subjects, and I am especially knowledgeable on the topic of giant robots. Behind that is an assortment of Japanese bullshit, and way behind that is more older forms of entertainment that I'm too lazy to devote a fraction of my time to, like books. Either way, I'm fairly flexible, and if it's a game I've never heard of or seen I can easily play along as the straight man, reacting to what is happening on screen.

I beg of you, don't ship away Jones, he has a wife and kids!

Hello, my name is Dr. Snark, and I am a male goon who is available for commentary on basically whatever said LPer desires. I am generally free after 5PM US Eastern Time on weekdays and anytime during Saturday. If you want to contact me, I would prefer PMs or emailing me at drsnarksa(at)gmail.

I've been gaming for drat near my entire life, so I know a little bit of everything about gaming from around the turn of the millennium up to today so I could find something to talk about for any game subject. That being said, I'm particularly good at talking about strategy games in particular as well as RPGs seeing as how I was basically raised on both genres. As for other areas, my exposure to many different things coming from :japan: has made me capable of comprehending and talking about the most batshit insane of concepts with a straight face, so I could cover anything like that without difficulty, and odds are I'll at least have heard of whatever series has been adapted into a game. I was also a very avid Star Wars fan back in the day and I still have a lot of useless informative information on anything Star Wars-related stored away in my brain in case an LP of a Lucasarts game comes up. Finally, on a more intellectual note, I am familiar with many different mythologies and religions, so I could have a lot of things to say about games that use religious or mythological symbolism/names.

In short, if you're looking for accentless, sarcastic but informative commentary, then I'd be happy to sign on with whatever a LPer desires so long as it's interesting to talk about or really fun to riff on.

I use Audacity for recording audio.

Rub a dub dub
I'm available to commentate pretty much 24/7. My commentary "style" is mostly dry and acerbic, and I'm most familiar with Tactical Shooters, WRPGs, and old VALVe games goldsrc mods though I'm happy to participate in an LP for pretty much any game with more gfx than nethack. I will not use Skype, but otherwise have no qualms with software. Shoot me a message on :steam:.

E: If you're doing a game in Japanese and need translation assistance I can help with that.

EE: No longer on evolve.

From here on out, I'm going to be strictly enforcing this rule. Please don't clutter up this thread with empty posts or "joke" posts.

I guess I can chime in: available to co-commentate in evenings GMT+1 provided someone talks me through the setup of skype/mumble recording for anything that's not OBS/Audacity. Decent amount of PC game history and trivia, love shooters, RPGs and comical accents, have been known to drop a horrible literary reference or two once in a while. Basically you don't want me unless you're really starved for a Europe-based co-commentator.
Easiest way to contact me is using Steam, same name as here; skype account thing is pikeoffreality.

My name: DC4C, or alternatively, Sam.
When most often available: Usually most nights between 7 CST to 12 CST, although that varies in the upcoming month, so if you want to nail down a time it'll require a quick bit of schedule-checking.
What voice recording software you use: Audacity, with a logitech headset. Audio quality is decent! I can be talked with on Mumble, TeamSpeak, or Skype.

Rub a dub dub
No one's going to notice or remember this thread when it's stuck on page 10. We need a sticky for this to maintain relevance (and it should, it's a good idea).

I'll eat a probation for this if need be, but someone has to do something.

Hi, I'm JawaKnight and I'm a quarter of a Century old.

I'm free most days that aren't Sunday, anytime after around 5 P.M. Mountain Standard Time.

I've never done any of this before, but I have Skype, Mumble and Audacity.

I'm very broadly played, just don't ask me to commentate on Racing Sims. Outside of gaming I'm sort of a Jack of all trade who's studied philosophy, film, history (especially war and weapon history), and a bit of art. I watch too much anime.

Get in touch with me on Steam or via PM first, and we can work the rest out over steam chat. id: **HavoC**

I'm also looking for a co-commentator for a 2002 dark fantasy action game in which I will be obsessively collecting gold! Hoping for 1 a week to every 2 weeks updates, faster as I get more accustomed to AviSynth.
