A funny little detail is that the Helldivers universe actually has no democracy. It is implied that Super Earth is actually run as an oligarchy (USER WAS EXECUTED FOR THIS POST)

Someone please go spam reddit until someone implements the thing I suggested in the earlier threadMinorkos posted:I feel like this game could massively benefit from a general chat thing that you could use to seek groups and talk about stuff. I'd like to complete that rank 10 retaliation mission but finding pubs who want to do it is kind of a bother. I guess the only reason it isn't in the game is because the game originally came out on the playstations. And I guess it could be hard to add if there's some kind of engine limitation somehow. but drat the game could really use it

Just a friendly reminder you can call in strategems when you're downed. I highly recommend dialing a reinforce and dying with it in your hands, as it calls you in with all your buddies. Also a reminder that the REP-80 repair gun rules. Help up downed team mates, heal turrets, mechs, tanks, apcs you call down, heal your team, heal the loving survivor escorts.

If you're the team's designated REP-80 guy, strongly consider also packing the Angel. The Angel will pop you back up when you're down and sneak off to top up someone if you're distracted.

This game is real fun. Just got it today and the biggest jump in difficulty in the higher ranks seem to be the enemies that need anti-armor weapons to kill. Like, you can do a Challenging mission pretty reasonably with starting equipment, but once you run into some giant protoss sentry's or giant bugs or regular-sized tanks you start needing to bring more punch. All the pubs I meet where communicative and nice, which was surprisingly cool.

Eonwe posted:What's the best thing to take down heavily armored stuff 1. H.A.V. (A more powerful version of the APC.) but requires two players. It can run over any non-tank, and each anti-tank turret shot is equivalent to an Eat-17. 2. Eat - 17: Fully upgraded it drops two launchers and has unlimited calldowns on a moderate timer, these are 3rd slot weapons, really easy to use. 3. DLC REC-6 Satchels: Best solo option, fully upgraded you get 5 satchels, two satchels kill any tank and destroy quite a few mobs nearby. It takes some skill to use though, you have to chuck the packs then hit the reload button to detonate. 4. Railcannon: Call-Down with a somewhat short timer, as long as you throw it near the target, it will auto-track and drop damage equivalent to an Eat-17. Generally best to have two with the Strategem Cooldown Perk. 5. Vidicator Dive Bomb: Fast, Anti-Tank damage, but limited to 15 uses per mission 6. DLC Exo 51 Lumberer: less ammunition than the HAV and struggles with mid-armor mobs. Everything else either has a long cooldown timer (Airstrike, Thunderer), requires *effort* team-work (Recoiless Rifle, MLS-4X), or doesn't deal damage fast enough (Incendiary, Toxic dealing stratagems.)

The Rumbler DLC mortar wrecks the hell out of armoured Bugs and Cyborg Hulks/Warlords in a single volley, instantly. Plus, y'can totally ignore enemy swarms by aiming over them, and you get 4 shots per reload, no assist necessary. If it didn't seem inconsistent against IFVs, I'd take it practically all the time in a good team.

This game just makes me immensely happy even (especially) when it's cheesing extracts on a Helldive by driving in circles in an HAV Thanks to Coolguye Sykic and Kirenski for teaching me the art of dumping boxes and totally not murdering civilian survivors, and for not hating me for grenading that train that one time

The problem is not enough turrets and nobody has a healing gun.

The only correct instance in which to use a gatling turret is when it's behind a rock/the extraction beacon from the rest of the team or when you're solo and just hugging its back as it rotates. This is why I often just blow up peoples' gatling guns when they throw them down.

Doing as much damage as possible is what Helldivers is all about and healing is basically anti-damage get the gently caress out of here.

Bah. It's fun but my scrub-laptop runs it at 15-20~ FPS or so. Playable, just not very. Has the community figured out a way slash the settings down by .inis or something? edit: Doubly bah, it goes pretty smooth at ~~~800x600~~~ unless it's an extermination arena mission. What are recommendations for strategem / AT setup for Cyborg arena missions on difficulty 7+? The unending swarms of Hulks and IFVs and tight quarters steamrolled me at first, so any tips are helpful.

40 Proof Listerine posted:What are recommendations for strategem / AT setup for Cyborg arena missions on difficulty 7+? Beyond that, airdropped anti-tank mines and stasis field generators are very helpful. Many larger enemies will die almost instantly after dropping in. The downside, of course, is that it is very difficult to summon the shuttle when the arena is lousy with mines. Some patience will be required, or the willingness to waste a Thunderer just bombing the LZ. Without the emplacements, personal equipment also makes a lot more sense, in which case people should be universally rocking recoilless rifles and support packs. Designate group A and group B, where one group fires and one group does assisted reloads, swapping off when one group's support packs run dry. The reload team should be using their normal longarms to kill chaff primarily. Don't bother with Tesla towers, the IFVs will run them over. Don't bother with personal shields, most of the crap the Cyborgs can pull will kill you instantly anyway. Bring Guard Dog drones instead to help clean up chaff that gets too close. Don't take rail gun turrets, they don't hurt enough to kill IFVs and Warlords efficiently.

So yeah, this is immensely fun. I've twice hopped in on pub games where we just gleefully slaughter each other on accident, all the while laughing like maniacs. Having a dude drop in on your fresh EXO and destroying it as you hop in to accidental you is something everyone should experience at least once.

I just brought democracy to the alien boss planet under leveled. After dying like 7 times trying different ideas, my cunning plan of countless turrets with healers behind them worked. Got dicey near the end as one person had so just stay just holding a reinforcement beacon.
