Voter turnout was abysmal. Like I said maybe next time people will get off their couches and vote since (shocker) elections matter.

Mr Hootington posted:I know this isn't the media thread but, is there anyway we could start adding good news sources to stay caught up with politics and US bullshit in the OP? I'm thinking just having a list like the Atlantic, the New Yorker, the WSJ, the NYT, National Review (gives a good look into conservatism), or other actual "good" news sources. We could add things like media matters, politifact, 503, zero hedge, or any of the other alternative news sources or new media. Al Jazeera can be pretty good. Better now that they stopped the bullshit redirect to Al Jazeera America or whatever the hell that waste of internet is.

Seconding the need for good media sources to consume. I have two questions, both regarding Obama: 1) There are some who claimed that "the Obamas had no personal controversy", which I took to mean that in the family of Obama there's no 'sketchy' stuff like love affairs or driving without license or accidental weed consumption or full-blown socialist rituals or something. And that this personal cleanliness kind of annoys people who wanted delicious gossip on Obama. This isn't special to the Obamas, though, right? Was there any family controversy during GWB's presidency? 2) Will we get more Obama zingers in 2016 now that apparently he stopped giving a gently caress?

toanoradian posted:Seconding the need for good media sources to consume. The Bush twins come to mind. It was reported that they drank and partied like your typical college aged girls. I don't really care about it but there was some stink about it, so if that fits your definition of personal controversies, that's one. Then there's Laura Bush killing a man by accident while driving. It comes up every once in a while but I don't think there wasn't anything technically criminal about it. So that was that. And W Bush with his drinking. But Jesus forgave him for that so we're cool.

Like if a GOP-held state just up and doesn't run polling places in heavily

Don't be depressed about 2016 you buncha sad sacks! Movement conservatism is destroying itself and it would take a major black swan event, like a terrorist attack or economic collapse, or maybe Comey recommending indictment against Hillary and throwing the Democratic primary into chaos but that's not even so bad because we have DWS to handle the fallout

So when Trump wins the election, is there going to be a new calendar and months like in the French Revolution? Sure it'll only be relevant for the short period before Earth's entire atmosphere ignites under nuclear hellfire, but it might be funny.

During the celebrations, onlookers were surprised to catch a brief glimpse of the man himself, surrounded by his elite team of Trump Troopers. Ever since the great guacamole throwing incident at a press conference in TYOOT 8, Mr. Trump has rarely been seen in public.
