Man now that I'm thinking more about it you could extend the "DC movies suck" thing to "anyone who isn't Marvel/Disney is making embarrassingly bad comic book movies" evidence: -both of those recent spiderman movies sucked rear end -the Fantastic 4 movie was unspeakably bad and had to be retooled last-minute with a bunch of additional shooting with bad wigs so they could even release it -I am super apprehensive about the deadpool movie, like it is just really unlikely that'll be good I'm sure you can think of more examples

the problem with deadpool is that deadpool's defining characteristic is his irreverant disregard for everything around him. he knows he's in a comic book and doesn't give a gently caress. the entire success of the current marvel francise is because of the whedonesque self-awareness that these movies have, they're accessible to people who think comic books are too serious but serious enough for those people to get into them. the movies know they're movies and don't give a gently caress. how do you make a superhero movie that is irreverant and self aware when the baseline standard for comic book movies these days is irreverant and self aware? knowing DC they most definitely do not see how easily they are going to gently caress up a deadpool movie by trying to make it not like the avengers

Isn't the deadpool movie a fox production? Disney is the power house that makes all their movies work. I would be legitimately afraid if Disney had political ambitions because they could probably convince the country to vote a corporation into office if they wanted.

holy poo poo imdb shows that the batman vs superman movie now has wonder woman and aquaman and the flash and possibly bat-girl and also doomsday and general zod and all of the batman family and all of the superman family. unless the runtime is 4 hours long, the movie is going to feel schizophrenic trying to cram all those characters and their back stories into a coherent film. it'd be one thing if DC had already done 4 or 5 stand-alone movies with wonder woman and the flash and etc so then you could get an avengers-esqe film where the big name heroes all work together but don't need a lot of explanation. it seems like they're going to want to do like 6 origin stories in the middle of a movie that was (at least partially) based on the third act of the dark knight returns. gently caress, i don't even know if you could make a movie of the third act of DKR without the first two acts to give it context (geriatic batman fights superman, who is on ronald reagan's payroll), but their method seems like the worst possible implementation.
