NOX is excellent. To me, it aspired to take the ARPG formula and do something interesting with it. It's a world that's not built around grinding for the best loot. Multiplayer was either roleplaying or skill-based objective stuff. Co-op was relegated to a module called Nox Quest which had little merit to it. The campaign is slightly to majorly different for every class, there are tons of hidden areas and the atmosphere is top notch. I'd say it's better than D2/D1 as a single player experience.
