Aliquid posted:Joe, since this is obviously the opposite of what's happening, do you think it's a good strategy to fly under the radar and let the focus be on the GOP eating itself? No. Both the DNC and RNC decided that there were too many debates in 2008/2012 and took steps to limit them this time. Both are regretting it. Debates don't weaken front-runners, like the parties thought, they make it clear why they are frontrunners. Also, having a network broadcast a 2-3 hour commercial for your party free of charge doesn't hurt.

Turnquiet posted:So did DWS arbitrarily include O'Malley though he polls in like the sub 1%? I have been unplugged from how the DNC has been trying to bury Bernie so I don't know the latest scuttlebutt. He qualified under the rules, which just required him getting 5% in a poll, which he did in a couple Iowa polls.

They interrupt Andrea to say Hillary is entering, but you can't see her. Meanwhile, Martin is walking right past the camera and Andrea has to stop and point at him.

blue squares posted:Is this the very first debate on network television? Its nice to not have to watch a delayed internet stream No, they've done them on ABC and CBS too. That's part of the reason they've been on the weekend. The networks aren't giving up prime time for this.
