There needs to be more Ainu characters in manga. Completely unrelated, I want to know more about the crazy Shinsengumi guys. I've got a feeling they're going to go full Japanese Unforgiven.

Yeah, the rise of the military led to a period sometimes called Government by assassination. Lots of factors led to that craziness, the 1905 war being only one of them. I always had a fondness for Inukai Tsukoshi, who tried to rein in the military and got assassinated for his troubles (while his son was watching a sumo match with Charlie Chaplin away from the area, saving both their lives).
