A fledgling vampire? How about a dragon, or some half-kobold druids? Perhaps a spontaneous sex change? Anything that can happen, will happen the results will be beyond entertaining.

 So Time Masters are discouraged from marriage or families because they don't need "entanglements," and when Rip's family died the Time Masters refused to help. So he's really Anakin Timewalker.
