Taking the term "Koopaling" to a whole new level since 2016.

I found this on a Google search and it's fantastic. I don't know who drew it, but kudos to them

That's right, folks, we're going to tackle Yoshi's Island! For those of you who have been living under a rock or were just recently unfrozen from a block of ice and are unaware of the Super Mario Brothers, this is the sequel to Super Mario World. In this one, instead of being the mustachioed plumber himself, we're playing as his sidekick, Yoshi. See, before they grew up, Mario and Luigi were nearly kidnapped by Bowser and Kamek and their goons, but Mario was accidentally dropped on Yoshi Island. The Yoshi's then decided that they were going to reunite the twins and thanks to a bond between them, they can travel through the island to bring Mario back to Luigi.

Along the way, we're going to visit tons of different locales, all done in a soft, pastel and crayon style, leading to some wonderfully imaginative environments. They look like a child's drawing, but done with the love and care required to make a truly good game. The game handles quite well, with collectibles scattered in each level, including flowers and special coins, which I'll be collecting all of. In some videos, I won't 100% a level, since I'm aiming to do something more casual here, where I'm just playing a game and having fun; I just happen to be recording it. However, I assure you, I'll always go back to 100% a level.

Spoilers aren't really possible for this game, since we all now know the story (reunite Mario and Luigi), and how it'll end (they get reunited), so I guess I don't really have a policy for it. Maybe keep quiet about future levels and boss fights? I know there will be some people who haven't played this game yet, and I think it'd be pretty nice to see their surprise when we get to some levels and bosses. As for updates, expect one or two a week; I'll be doing four levels per update (such as World 1-1 to 1-4, like in the first video), and when I've completed two worlds, I'll do both sets of the bonus levels unlocked so that videos are all about the same length.

I announce when I update on Twitter, if you're interested to know that!

With that said, let's scoot.

E: also, watching the video now, you seem to have some commentary sync issues. You're talking about stuff before I see you doing it.

I noticed that, too, and someone else pointed it out to me. I'm currently seeking technical help for it.

Thanks for pointing it out; I appreciate it.

Hey, everybody, we've finished off the first world of Yoshi's Island!

And as mentioned in the video, this is why you do a test run before recording this sort of thing; I did not, letting my arrogance get the best of me, and it made me look like an rear end in a top hat. Remember, folks, make sure you know what the hell you're doing before you record it and post it on the internet.

'course, not everyone follows that advice or has that mentality (i.e., tumblr and a lot of Reddit folks), but it seems to be a pretty good rule of thumb.

I would like to be the guy to point out, that in the GBA port of the game, they COMPLETELY washed out the colors on the hidden red coins. AKA: They were indistinguishable from regular coins, because gently caress you. So you either had A. The strategy guide right next to you the entire time (Which I did), B. Looked things up on GameFAQS, or C. Waited a few years for youtube to actually be a thing and look it up there.

Someone asked me why I wasn't doing the GBA version, and I told them I'd played the SNES version a lot more (in fact, I've never touched the GBA version; I have the DS version on the WiiU, but I hate the interface for how they do DS games, so haven't played much), and now I have a second reason not to do the GBA version.

Hey, there, everyone! I've got a new episode ready, featuring Kaboom Dragoon! As a quick disclaimer, and I mention this in the video, but I don't really like World 2. I also hope you guys don't mind us not talking about the game very much!

I'm already working on my Dad jokes; it's one of the most exciting parts of having a baby, I think.

And here's another Yoshi's Island video! We've finished off World 2, and we'll be starting World 3 next video!

And I'll do the bonus levels at some point, too, I guess.

Hey, folks, I'll be recording commentary for the next video tomorrow. Since I've been through a couple of videos and haven't asked the thread at large, how are the videos? Are you all enjoying them? I know I had some audio sync issues early on, but I think I've got those sorted out. Is there anything different I could do? Is there anything different you'd like to see?

Besides me 100% all levels in a video, that is.

Alrighty folks, I've got the next world fully recorded and a commentator lined up. I might have the video up this weekend, but definitely not tomorrow.

I'm getting married tomorrow.

This isn't some kind of shotgun wedding type situation, is it?

No, sir! Just two people in love.

That's right, folks, I got married and posted a video the next day!

Only because Mrs. Leave had to go to work and I didn't have much else to do with my day. Thanks to Silver Falcon for helping me kill time!

To (hopefully) distract you all from Explosionface's video of my terrible driving, have the second video for World 3!

With that said, I have guests up through World 4. Keeshhound will be joining me for World 4, and I think I have guests for World 5 and 6, at least. However, that leaves 7 and 8. If you are interested in joining for either of those worlds, just let me know. Hell, now that I think of it, I could probably do two guests for a world. But, at the moment, that's neither here nor there, since I'm still looking for some guests.

Hey there, everyone! We're back with the fourth world's beginning, and this time Keeshhound is coming along for the ride!

I tried a different encoding technique for this one; I don't think it affected the quality at all, but I have trouble noticing these things. If you did notice the difference in quality, and think it's completely terrible, oh God go back to the way you were doing them, let me know! I'm still trying to figure out this VLP thing, and that also includes audio sync.

If there's anything you think I can do better, besides the actual playing of the game, I'm talking video and audio quality stuff, let me know. I'd like to do the best I can, and I'm open to criticism.

I'm trying out a lot of things with this LP. I've never done a VLP before, so this is kind of a testing and learning experience for me.

1500 is my usual bitrate and that's what I should stick with.

Yeah, I'm going to re-encode the video and re-upload it. I didn't realize how bad it looked in spots.

Guys, I'm sorry, but I'm going to abandon this LP. I'm just not having fun doing a VLP of Yoshi's Island; I love the game, but I'm not loving the process of recording and bringing it to you guys. It's just not any fun to me.
