Everybody seems grimmer and more badass than before.

I like it!

Also, it is probably obvious, but:

Was the ghost ship with the captain who was stranded and committed suicide the slaver that Vane plundered? Or was it a different ship entirely that was left as bait by the pirate hunting ship?

Great season opener.

I suppose what I'm asking is what ends up happening, historically, to Nassau. I don't remember much from a trip there when I was in grade school, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't still run by a loveable gang of whores and pirates. Is this Woodes Rogers the guy who ends up taking over the place?

I don't even know that I want to hear about all this. The end of Deadwood was such a downer.

Envision post Giuliani NYC. All the porno shops and shooting galleries get replaced by Apple stores and Abercrombie and Fitch.

This show has done a good job getting nice performances out of their prettyboy hunk characters like Vane and Silver. Zach McGowan did well conveying a man driven to follow the dictates of his own heart, even if they lead him to decisions in the end that no one can understand, like rejoining and then going against his old mentor, accepting his fate and becoming a martyr etc.

RIP best abs and hair on the show!

I love this show, but I think they better end it next season. With the age of pirates coming to an end with captains being lost, the whole thing being burnt down.

Sort of like how Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch dealt with the last hurrah of the age of bank robbers on horseback moving into a modern age.

It might already get a bit long at 4 seasons, and they will run out of story otherwise I think.

Well I finally got around to playing Assassin's Creed IV and I must say it feels very much like "Black Sails: The Game". Either that or Black Sails is "Assassin's Creed IV: The TV Show". Did either one rip off the other? I enjoy both very much (with the exception of the Templar vs. Assassin plot in the game which leaves me cold, or the modern day computer hacker stuff).
