mmmmm yeah this is my poo poo, some nice insights here such as, for instance, players who score more goals are better and teams that score more and concede fewer are also better:

I'm going to take my sweet time delving into all these stats but just a quick question: do you think USMNT striker Jozy Altidore still has a future in the EPL, providing he gets in a team with some good service (unlike S'land )? Maybe Manchester or 'Pool? Would love your take on it, and keep up the good work.

I've read all of Nelly's advanced stats blog posts and can only come to the conclusion that Liverpool are cool and good and quite possibly the best team of all time.

i've also done some digging and found one easily overlooked aspect that can take teams over the top something more important than the scoreline at the end of every 90 min throw out your normal distributions, your pesky outliers, your box plots, and your threefold standard deviations because this revelation is huge it's this: butts lmao

I admire you stats guys but I don't know how you can be bothered. There's too many intangibles; how do you measure a player's intelligence (most important thing in sport) and creativity? How can you rank players when their movement off the ball and their movement in relation to where the other 21 players are at that time is so important and there's no stat for it? Soccer is such an imperfect game with constant referee blunders and player's psychology and momentum/confidence of teams playing an important role. Good players demand to be started and so often the difference in quality between a starter and his replacement on the bench is gigantic.

OP I feel bad. We don't like this level of advanced stats. It's a bit too real for us. Please don't let the negativity dissuade you from something you clearly enjoy. It's just not what we do here. Keep crunching the numbers, there's clearly a market for it. Mazel Tov 8raz fucked around with this message at 04:30 on Jan 24, 2016 |

OP as a legitimate criticism I think you need better graphics. Your blog entries are walls of words that most casual visitors won't read, and your graphs can't be read by themselves. Good luck with your advanced stats.
