beyond that, there's another very simple reason: whenever they patch a vulnerability, they force people like thefl0w to publish another exploit, which might also be present in other sony software

This has been an issue forever. Even with restarting i've seen a perfectly normally configured vita take hours to start downloading things.

It's a bit fiddly and sometimes getting it to connect can take a little, but qcma on your pc, and then copying via the photo app and a usb or wifi connection to your pc should work.
