I could have sworn the Muv-Luv games already got a Vita release but through, like, Kickstarter or something

I would love another Freedom Wars game too but I just miss the era where every Japanese studio was throwing poo poo at the wall to see if it would stick when it came to hunting action games. What I would give to have Soul Sacrifice Delta on PS4 so people could appreciate it, or another game like Freedom Wars on a grand scale with console comfortable controls.

Freedom Wars had a bullshit crafting system though.

Yeah it had the worst crafting system ever in a hunting action game. I still miss that period where every Japanese developer saw PlayStation, devoid of Monster Hunter, and went "we need to get in on that" because we saw all these different hunting action games step up and try new things (many of which would go on to be stolen and retooled by MHW like Freedom Wars' grappling hook). Soul Sacrifice, Freedom Wars, Toukiden, Ragnarok Odyssey, Phantasy Star Nova, and Gundam Breaker (just to name some) were all different takes on hunting action and I liked seeing where developers could take the genre. Now everyone's just trying to copy Battle Royale games and everything sucks.

I'm not sure I would qualify Gundam Breaker as a hunting action game; however, I do agree with the sentiment of the post. You know, as much as people hate on Attack on Titan, I always thought it would work perfectly as a hunting action game.

That's what made it so bizarre. Bandai Namco actually used the term "hunting action" in some of the trailers for the original Gundam Breaker and tried to cross-breed elements of some of their other Gundam franchises (i.e. Gundam Battle) with hunting action framing (4-player co-op, big battles, part targeting, grinding for drops to upgrade parts) to try and give the standard Gundam game something more like Monhun to fill the vacuum on Vita. They tried the same thing with Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, which also had a big 4-player co-op theme with fighting giant apes to varying levels of success. It's all taking the original Monster Hunter concept and breaking it down and rebuilding it, like how Fortnite's Battle Royale was built from PUBG which was built from DayZ which was built from ARMA 2.

I like hunting action and while I've put over 300 hours into Monster Hunter World and love it to death, the genre does need more people stepping in and trying new things with it. I'm not really interested in Dauntless or God Eater 3, but I'm glad people are out there mixing it up. It's why I like that there's so many Soulslikes now (especially with Souls being finished) because I like seeing what The Surge 2 or Code Vein or that weird Battle Royale Souls game with the Carpenter Brut sounding soundtrack could do with it.

They kept having rating classification issues in the West and Sony doesn't want Adults Only games on their platforms. If PQube didn't want to censor anything for a Western release then what could they do? Other than put it out on Steam I guess, because Steam's new caveat emptor deal would probably be fine.

It looks gorgeous, plays pretty smooth, and the multiplayer is shockingly better than any other Killzone's. I paid for that bot zone DLC happily just so I could keep playing the mode for a few more months as the actual online is populated entirely by ultra-powerful Japanese players. The campaign is bite-sized enough and mostly pretty solid too, except for the dumb escort mission.

Senran games kinda suck. The 3DS games are average side-scrolling brawlers, the PS4/Vita games are hyper-linear dripfed Musou clones pretending to be character action games and doing neither right, then you've got a ton of spinoffs that are just awful gimmick games like the cooking rhythm game or Splatoon with Tits.

Let me put it this way: They have had to, on multiple occasions, apologize for the low quality of their translations or the bugs they introduced in transaltion.

I laughed reading this because I remembered the Euro localization of PS3's Agarest War 1 where Ghostlight apologized over the declining quality in it and cited that they didn't have the level of talent that companies like Aksys and NISA had. That was like 10 years ago lol

I believe the contract ran out on it and it was pulled during one of Marvel's fits where they tried to make Marvel video games fall in line with their MCU. It eventually came back on modern platforms.

NIS America also states that this release will see the return of certain English localization staff that have worked on previous titles in the series.

...

We recently had the opportunity to visit NIS America's offices in LA, where we got the chance to get a look at some of their upcoming games - including a brief teaser for Trails of Cold Steel III. While more information regarding the localization will be revealed during the company's PAX South panel on Friday, we were told that players should expect news regarding who will be helming the title's translation, with an emphasis on NISA bringing aboard talent that already has experience with the series, to "help contextualize, translate and localize the title".
