Gematsu translated a bit of Takaki's message about Uppers

Gematsu posted:

“One reasons it that the number of pre-orders haven’t reached the amount we thought they would,” Takaki said. He added, “If we consider today’s market, they’re not numbers that we can realistically swallow.”

He continued: “I want to believe in the power and potential of this game even more.”

Takaki said that he wants more time to further promote the game.

As for the game itself, Takaki notes that the development staff is putting all of its power into finishing the game in its best condition.

I can't wrap my mind on the whole situation. Those preorder should've been absolutely abyssmal for Marvelous to take this decision, I mean, the game is nearly done and I'd think getting some money back would be preferable to no receive money at all.

I'm honestly surprised, I'd thought the concept would be more appealing to the japanese.

And there you have one of the reasons I'm not a fan of the Versus series.

I'm honestly surprised at the way Valkyrie Drive turned out, the anime was pretty upfront about its contents and was way more enjoyble due that (it helped it had a lot of great characters) while Bhikkhuni is a lot more tasteful and fun than Estival.

Here's hoping the IP gets a sequel or something.

What kind of game is this, and are those chicks about to kiss? Is that a JP-onry title? I don't read runes.

Valkyrie Drive -Bhikkhuni-

Is an action game for the Vita made by the creator of Senran Kagura but while at surface they're similar, Bhikkhuni is a lot more polished and interesting than any Senran Kagura game to date (only Deep Crimson come close and Bhikkhuni pretty much shits all over Estival on nearly every factor)

Yeah, those girls are going to kiss. Basically, the cast is infected by a weird magical virus that turns them into weapons when aroused, so they pair up and make out with each other so they can beat people up. Is awesome :v:

So far is Japan only, although the game is pretty import-friendly. All the menus are in english and the game is pretty intuitive with a very useful tutorial so you'll only miss on the plot. However, the game's producer is "thinking postively" about a localization.

Oh right, the new multiplayer mode that was added is a Super Smash ripoff :haw:

Surprisingly fun tho.

(Though the last one may be since she's fighting dudes, while she's normally around girls.)

The small profile, the weird proportions, the gloves and red belt, her hair is pretty unremarkable despite being one of her most characteristic features.

Is also baffling that in a game were everything is unrealistic ripped, she's just toned, instead of ripped.

Pretty awesome review about Valkyrie Drive Bhikkhuni

http://thevitalounge.net/2016/04/08/valkyrie-drive-bhikkhuni/

quote:

Well, Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni is a game that fills the needs of life and hometown to anyone coming from the Senran series, but is different enough to feel like it’s not just slapping a skin on our favourite shinobis. While the Senran series on Vita is very much a medium paced musou title with unique characters and tons of tits, Bhikkhuni is a fast paced action title that’s slightly more akin to Devil May Cry. It’s all about quick change, grand moves, and being able to close the gap in a moment. It’s a bit of a different beast, and while that’s not immediately apparent, it soon becomes so once you begin to play.

That’s why I recommend that you don’t just take my word for it here. Buy it, play it, and feel it out for yourself; you can thank me later.

Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni is fast-paced musou action title infused with Kenichiro Takaki's brand of fanservice and strengthened by the roots of Senran Kagura experience. It may not be in English, but aside from missing what could be an interesting story due to the language barrier, there's tons of great gameplay for the importer.

The guy actually played the game for one, that is more than most reviewers can brag about. The review also eplained clearly most elements of the game, offering a pretty complete picture about what it offers and how it distinguish itself from Senran Kagura.

I agree that the Vita Lounge can be iffy with its score but then again, that is nothing new these days. What it matters is the actual content of the review and at least on that the site is solid.

Dark_Tzitzimine

I've only found three reviews for the game: Vita lounge's, a french site and from a youtuber

I can't really speak for the french one but the youtuber failed to explain the basic mechanics of the combat and when I asked him about it he answered "isn't relevant because it doesn't offer a significative change to the game"

Something that is utter bullshit since the gameplay is built around those mechanics and thus he was voluntarily gimping the gameplay by not using it.

That kind of stuff isn't an isolated case either, I've found many examples of it many times before. Specially when it relates to SK since a lot of reviews show a pretty strong bias against the game. So I'm just grateful when I find a review where the reviewer has enough interest to play the game and offer an objective and informed opinion on it.

Poor Vert, Four Godesses Online isn't her own game

quote:

This time we’re trying to represent the characters differently to make a fantasy version of Neptunia.

The title has the word “Online,” but it is not an online game. The setting sees Neptune and company playing in an online game world.

It is the game that Vert is playing in the main Neptunia titles, but Vert is not the protagonist. The four goddesses are. Vert might have a bit of a greater importance though.

The four goddesses will little by little become allies, but they’ll all become allies early on.

Look forward to a followup report regarding additional characters set to appear.

The story begins when Neptune and company, while normally playing Four Goddesses Online, notice the presence of new characters, and then go on to fight those that are enemies.

Development is 20 to 30 percent complete. The release window might be winter.

http://gematsu.com/2016/04/first-four-goddesses-online-cyber-dimension-neptune-details#PGrmyVRdEsRvzKxa.99

I wonder if we'll see the makers again.
