Yeah, it's a lot of fun and Spidey in particular is good at using the environment which unfortunately can mean if there's not a lot to use Spidey gets a bit pillow fisted.

I like midnight suns quite a bit. It is very quip heavy early on but does eventually find some footing that isn't one liners, and the gameplay is neat and fun.

However, if you're looking for XCOM look elsewhere. The card game elements and predictable nature of the game makes it diverge hard from the XCOM model. The strategy layer has some similarities in terms of resource collection and menus, but there's zero time pressure and I'd compare it more to Persona.

Thanks for the replies. I watched a bit of gameplay of spiderman fighting venom and i wanted to punch the screen at all the quips. Think i'll go for the extremely XCOMish dave the diver instead.

What's this about Dave the Diver? I had heard that it's really good, but didn't realize it had anything in common with XCOM.

He's joking, it has nothing to do with tactics games. It's a 2d subnautica/farmville game.

Bored at work and browsing the google play store on my new phone I found XCom 2 and figured it was an easy £10 given I had the first one on an old iPad and the touch controls worked great, and I'd played the base game before on my Xbone but none of the expansions. Anyway I'm enjoying it a lot and it runs well enough on my phone except now I'm not at work and am at home with a great gaming PC and the complete XCom 2 was less than a fiver online so now I have it on PC as well.

tl;dr: any way to transfer saves from android to PC and vice versa, or rather to actually make them work? I found the saves on my google drive and copied them to the save folder on my PC but when I try to load them in game it gives warnings about them being older versions and likely to cause undesirable results, and then it won't load them anyway.

Finally what are the essential PC mods? Does the list in the OP still apply or have a lot of those bugs been officially patched now?

Somebody call for an ant?

Not that I'm aware of. The android port seems to be running a handful of mods, so I'm not even sure you could maintain compatability even if you found and transferred the files.

found someone on reddit in a similar situation, the answer is to connect the phone to the pc and copy over the save files manually which is a bit of a PITA but doable. I just tested it and it works, with a warning when you load the game on the phone that any tactical legacy content won't load, so I've just disabled that on PC so it won't show up in the save files. otherwise they both have all the same DLC so it should be fine.

Hell, I've just recently re-installed this from Steam, but even though I verified the integrity of the local files, and am still subscribed to them on my Steam account, I apparently can't get my mods to work? I seem to recall last time that the game asks if you want the mods to be activated at the start menu, but I don't get that now. Any advice?

(my evidence for the mods not being properly installed is the fact that the international voice pack options aren't present when I try to edit characters).

Are your mods for regular XCom2 or War of the Chosen and are you launching that version of the game? They are treated as separate games with separate mod lists and character pools.

That was the first problem I encountered - I made sure to open it as War of the Chosen (also, all mods state that they need WotC).

Isn't there supposed to be a mod section in the options menu when one starts the game? Cause I'm not seeing it.

I usually run the game through the XCOM Alternative Mod Launcher, but launching the game through Steam it loaded a 2K launcher that had an option to manage mods on it.

Now I see - Firaxis changed the way it usually started. Had to make a alternative game launcher that forced it to open the old way - that seems to have done it.

The official Launcher for XCOM2 is hot garbage and finding and downloading the Alternate Mod Launcher has been considered nigh-mandatory for people running any number of mods for many years, now. Glad you got it working! Have fun!

I just want people to know that in one of the missions I played today, Ivo "Dr. Eggman" Robotnik, the Tech Specialist, managed to steal not one, but two enemy MECs, and got an Enemy Protocol hack boost from opening a cell door to rescue the VIP.

Truly, he has the Master Plan. (this is relatively early in the campaign; most advanced thing I've seen is a Berserker)

For those interested: Long War of the Chosen released their first major post-release update a few weeks ago.

https://steamcommunity.com/linkfilter/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F1kHAQHA7OQFqpkWfJs-sNcM3SVSxGl2xDRCU9AxyTkN4%2Fedit

Highlights:
+A ton of bug fixes and performance improvements
+Chosen adjustments, mostly nerfs, especially on the Hunter (the prick)
+Some balance changes focused mostly on bringing up underused stuff (infinite use combat protocol! low cooldown skirmishers! usable concussion rockets!). RIP to cyclic fire gunners and banish reapers, still too strong for this world
+Templar rework: no more combat shield, worse volt, some miscellaneous buffs and a new single target damage ability
