i think the skirmisher is the best class because the reaper and the templar can't looney tunes pull a dude into a 100% guaranteed 5 man overwatch murder festival

or the even better adjacent ranger bladestorm deathtrap

No they'll run away if you get them low enough, if you get them to 0hp they 'die' and you get a bonus, but they'll come back later anyway. There's no other way to force them to leave (other than sacrificing one of your soldiers for them to capture).

Each of them will be weak to one of the hero factions, so if you're doing a mission in one of the areas where the chosen might drop in, bring one of the reapers / skirmishers / templars with you. If they're weak to explosions, bring a grenadier, weak to melee, bring a ranger etc.

iirc the void demon is the assassin, the best strategy I found for her was to keep on her at all times. Don't let her run away and vanish. Always chase after her and keep eyes on her (provided you're not running into an area of the map where you might trigger other enemies.) I think the first time I killed her Jane Kelly and her ninja ranger squad just Benny Hilled her and smacked her with swords for three straight rounds.

e: the second time I killed her she was weak to reapers and explosions, and my cloaked reaper stumbled across her hiding behind one of the power generators at the alien facility remote start one shot

Damage you do on the bosses stacks over to the next time they show up, so do as much damage as you can and then bug out if you need to. He will also bug out if you inflict a certain amount of damage. You dont need to/cannot kill him in a single mission, grind him down over two or three. Thats why their health bars are so ridiculous.

Also retreat back the way you came and lure him after you so you don't accidentally trigger any fresh pods.

On the upside you get a fully sick suit of armour for smashing him.

I tried to add some voice pack mods because I'm kind of tired of the default selection. I clicked the box in the launcher so the were highlighted, started a new game and... They didn't seem to be included?

Are you certain they're compatible with whatever version you're playing (vanilla/wotc)? some of the mods for no reason whatsoever are extremely finnicky about which version they'll work with.

Anyway the tech support all specialists and sparks run ran into an unforeseen snag: I have enough medics to keep everyone alive on the battlefield pretty much indefinitely. You'd think that'd be a good thing, but they take so many hits that every time the survivors come home they ping up as 1hp gravely wounded and have sustained enough poo poo that collectively they're terrified of EVERYTHING. I've got 12 specialists right now on 7 - 30 day recuperation, Mox and a bunch of rookies are going to have to carry the weight and oh great sectopods just showed up.

whilst i wouldnt say xcom is grimdark by any means, there's definitely a different tone here, one of the fun things about xcom proper is your soldiers freaking out and shrieking for evac as things get worse and worse, here when someone goes down noone reacts at all/is extremely glib about it

It's all useful, but in both previous XCOMs, I really noticed when I went without a sniper for long range firepower, a heavy for crowd control and armor shredding, or an assault to be the best.

When I didn't have a support, I tended to just go "Oh, huh."

Supports are useful, but they didn't have anything that stood out most of the time, while Terminal and Patchwork feel more like they had unique niches.

i just did a campaign of all specialists, a whole squad of them is ridiculously op

they never loving die, they take over robots, they're extremely mobile once you level them high enough to get ever vigilant

they lack the delete button that a sniper or ranger with talon rounds gives you, but the point is they will survive long enough to whittle whatever it is you want to delete down

the downside is they all come back gravely wounded and need to take 3-4 weeks walking it off
