He is twitchy, like he used to be a 1980s cocaine executive. He suggested a nickname for himself when he became a sergeant, but everyone calls him Porno. This is the fucker.

The base itself has decided to troll him. For his Major ranked Training Center perk is 'Untouchable'

You can wait on the training center till you have higher ranks. Its a great thing to have, but it can wait. Resistance Ring is top 3 buildings you need. Run for engineers constantly, you need about 10-12. Run Resistance contacts/Avenger Power covert ops and you can save 2 building slots eventually. Power level a guy to captain by doing covert ops that offer promotions to get squad 6. doesnt matter the reward. find the chosen to raise your faction fondness to get more resistance orders active.

Proving grounds +1, Comms +2, Psi +1, Power +2, Defense +1, Ring +1, Infirmary +1 is 9. If things go bad with scans for contacts and power, im looking at 2nd Comms +1 engineer, 2nd power +1 engineer for 11, and one extra for covert ops for 12.

Im usually shuffling engineers about as needed way before this. A lot depends on power/contacts covert ops/scans as well.

By the time i have 12 i am done with the game and well into my victory lap, having made do without that many. A workshop alone will save you two, and the extra engi for covert missions is a waste considering they don't seem very common

Just answering what you could use 12 engineers on. I dont like the workshop, the power and supplies it takes would be better served by just getting more engineers. or guns. or just about anything else. 250 supplies when you are early game and dont have buildings to staff or engineers is mag rifles, pred armor, and a few other upgrades. 12 engineers was my worse case late game needs :)

Current base set up

GTS/t3 Ring-E/proving grounds-E
t3 Power-EE/t2 Comms-EE/t1 Infirmary-E
Training/t2-Psi-E(coil)/t2 Defense-E
Empty/Shadow(Coil)/Empty

Sitting on about 45 power from 2 or 3 +3 power scans/ops

13 region contacts. Bouncing the Engineer from proving grounds and defense as needed. If i didnt get the contact and power scans, those empty spots would be a 2nd comms and a 2nd power station. As is, im actually thinking of having a lab, leaving me having no idea what to do with that last spot. 8 engineers for 9 spots.

Use WAR suits on any character that you give Explosive + Other in the gear regularly. More or less replace the plasma grenade with a heavy weapon, rocket at minimum.

Im having trouble with some of the cinematics locking up my game when they are supposed to fire. Shen's Last Gift, Julian isnt talking ot me on the first floor, preventing me from getting any farther than the first map, as the elevator hack just doesnt pop up. When i level up a spark without using Shen's gift, its not loading the short video of Lily reprogramming the MEC, so it just cuts like it wants to load the video, but fails to load, leaving me looking at what ever i was looking at with no UI interactivity. Any Idea what could be causing this? Ive verified files, reinstalled the game, unsubbed and resubbed all my mods.. It definitely could be modding, but I have no idea what one it could be. Shen's Tower, and sparks are broken for me. Anyone encounter this? At the tower, it no longer starts to play Julian, or the video where Shen dismisses the 'High Tech 20 years ago' first floor of the factory. if i build a spark in the proving grounds, and level eem up, it doesnt cut to shen's 'Im programming upgrades' video.

i go with skirmishers. The faster build speed of their HQ is nice in getting your GTS/Ring up in the first month soon enough to get some ops for more support personel and squad to 5 in time for the first retaliation. having 2-3 engineers into month 2 is great for getting a head start. their justice can help very well vs the first officers, and while their bullpup is less damage, its not that bad, being 3-4 vs 3-5 of your rifles. basically, unless the rumor is worth it, only scan for build speed that first month. if you can pull it off, skip buying anything but your GTS, Ring, Squad 5. clearing a space or two can give you enough supply to pull it off. buy things you need in month 2

So, I had some of the biggest gently caress you bullshit I've seen in X-Com last night. Taking on a supply train, I kill all the enemies that the shadow chamber say I was to face. Mission doesnt end, I didnt have anime blathered at me, so Ruler is on the map. I've killed the Queen and Snek, so i know its the Archon King. I find him, he proceeds to grab my Colonel skirmisher as his ruler reaction. Then my turn ends. Then his escort Archons open fire on the lifted into the air soldier, critting him twice and killing them out of the Ruler's hands before I could do anything.

It sets the power to 10. It starts at 3, so you get 7 extra power. if it gave +10 power, it would set it to 13 power, and be interchangeable from an efficiency standpoint from putting the -10 power shadow chamber and -10 power psi lab on the power coil.

I wanna play with that on, but I cant seem to get it to work, causes instant crash when I try to start X-Com. Its likely my end, im running like 140 mods, and a bunch that likely touch the same files Mocx does. any mods you have found that would conflict with it? Im pretty sure I can eliminate a ton just be the fact their yours in the first place.

Edit: I'm an idiot and was using the vanilla version vs the WotC version. Will it work in a game in progress, or should I just restart?

Playing a Grim Horizon run of my stupidly heavy modded WotC game, I have killed off all but the archon king, and my save is the last round of the mission, archon king at 8hp and running, a full round of actions for my entire squad, and enough explosives to kill it 100% thanks to my reaper's claymore. Game hard crashes to desktop no matter how I play this last turn when going to the victory screen :(

Biggest thing? Get your resistance ring up and running. Run ops for supplies, support personnel, intel, weapon mods, promotions, continent bonus level resistance orders. For the most part you can have your Squaddies and Rookies doing missions there, getting experience. You can use it to power level an officer to captain to get your 6th squad slot. The training center can wait. Not building it, your solders are about non WotC power, with normal build choices. Building it allows you to spend your Xcom points, but until someone is high level, you donno if its ideal to invest in one guy or another, depending on if you really want a sniper with rapid fire.

Adding to above, if you hate what you picked, and you retrain the guy you spent all the ability points on, he gets back the personal ones, but the xcom generic points are lost. you are safe to spend any personal points if you have regrets later, you wont be hurt by that. all soldiers get enough points for 1 or 2 extra perks.

Turning off all mods, I got caught off guard by a few QoL things missing, the fact Bradfords Magic Journey starts all missions live and unconcealed. Once that fell in place, Beagle Crawling and playing it like X-Com EU and everything blows up. Any need for explosives in the future is a problem for Future Me. Now Me is blowing things up.

Also play more X-Com is a good way to not have to buy other games :v:

I also see myself always using the new LMG for my grenadiers over the minigun. That, hold it like a rifle, change handles, fire from the hip, change handles, drove me nuts as a weapon system.

These mission sets definitely feel more like Bradford bragging after the 2nd war is won vs catching up with the Commander right after Gatecrasher. "Oh yeah. I totally killed 3 of those at once. They had giant robot bodyguards."

It bothers me that you see so many of them in cutscenes and the like but on missions it's maybe one or two and then everyone else is some form of specialist/alien.

Perhaps a special event, using similar to lsot coding. Advent training mission. Explosions and officers call in 5+ advent soldiers running in that are debuffed to 2 steps difficulty down in stats. so swarm your legendary game normal difficulty advent, or your commander game with easy grade advent. lower difficulty? eh. less advent

I wish i would have screenshotted it, but running ABA, ABC, and some improved lost mod (and 200+ other mods :v: ), that 3rd campaign mission to get your 1st scientist with squaddies and rookies was the horde map with the guy manning the gun and the downed squaddie bodyguard. only two injuries, but total kill count was 75/83. I wasnt even trying to farm it, it was literally, blue move, mag dump, blue move, mag dump for the whole squad. my sniper got 30 kills.

Anyone have experience with the Wotc Jedi Class Beta on the workshop? it feels deeply under powered compared to things like the biotic or even core game ranger. No ranged attacks, having to blue move next to an alien to attack, expensive, indulgent lightsaber build system, powers that are expensive to use on a limited resource with its Force Pool.

I think I am going to download the Lightsaber mod, and Warrior of Light for my melee wizard with a laser sword needs over the Jedi. A good point of balance in a class is "Does it compare well to a core class", and compared to Rangers, Templar, Psions in the Melee to Wizard spectrum, it falls flat with tons of limited use powers. im better bringing anything else over the Jedi.
