Worth noting: The Alien Rulers DLC weapons cannot be upgraded to magnetic/powered tiers until after the Alien Nest mission has been completed. So they're nice for early game, but it quickly becomes a tradeoff as your weapons upgrade if you delay the nest for a while.

so i nevevr played with alien rulers. how do you even get the dlc weapons before the nest mission?

Long War Studios are releasing a new 2.5 weapon-only tier (laser, between mag and plasma). Base classes are broken into 7 classes à la Long War, with 70 new perks or so (you get to choose between 3 perks at every level).

e : here's the perk pack https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=719109968

also new PCS

Looks fantastic but you are gunna be mowing through aliens like no one's business until there's a solid difficulty increase mod that isn't a better advent.

Which is great don't get me wrong. But not entirely sufficient.

Well, poo poo, I have no idea what's causing my game to freeze on opening the soldier editor. But it freezes my game on any changes I make to any soldier in the soldier editor.

Longer Name has already been disabled, and I'm already dreading having to toggle every option off and on again one bit at a time to see what the culprit is.

Mind, this is after a fresh reinstall since I had some missing *.dll issues.

unsubscribe from all your mods, make sure they're deleted properly. Then resubscribe, and make sure you're launching from steam, not the mod launcher.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone!

Which mod is more perks? can't seem to find it and i'm curious

Also throwing in a recommendation for Better Pods Plus if you're using A Better Advent: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=686642883

It works well in terms of increasing difficulty in leiu of the Long War Team's Aliens/EXALT mod, especially if you're using their perk mod, or have lots of other gameplay mods.

Also wanna throw in a rec for All The Enemies! - it basically takes all the mod-added enemies and dynamically adds them to spawn lists so you'll actually see the new enemies:

Just recently I had an enemy VIP extraction mission where I never encountered any pods.

It was the weirdest thing, creeping up on the target, knocking him out and getting away without anyone noticing.

What mods do you have? that's a known issue with Evac All, since it has to edit Missions.ini - anything else that edits missions.ini will conflict.

here's the two hundred and change that i'm running that are mostly compatible with one another.

you just need to delete Missions.ini in Evac All to get it to work with A Better Advent Better Pods.

Yeah, these guys are humanity's greatest soldiers and they have proceeded to kick my troops' collective rear end.

turns out your soldiers are really really loving lethal, like, way more so than aliens. You leave an enemy soldier alive, one of your guys is going home in a body bag. Especially if it's a ranger.

Is the DLC even any good? I looked at it once and was underwhelmed by the descriptions. EW was a proper XCOM expansion and I like seeing games with full expansions because so many games have gone the way of half-assed DLC these days.

EW added a lot and changed enough that the campaign felt fresh even if the ultimate plot progression was identical. If all I got was 2 new council missions with Annette / Zhang and a new MEC class I'd be pretty disappointed.

Enemy Within probably amounts to a larger change than Xcom 2's DLC, if only because of the addition of EXALT. Still, MECs and Alien Rulers are hella cool nonetheless.

Strangely, not all of my mods seem to be loading in game now. Haven't played since early June so maybe the update broke them, but e.g. Cap'n Bub's accessories aren't loading, nor the LW toolbox. Despite them being activated in the advanced launcher.

Don't boot from the advanced launcher, cosmetic mods don't appear. Use it to check for conflicts.

I know the no kill option is better technically but killing dark VIPs is significantly more fun and actually makes the mission feel like a covert assassination, so I just mod or cheat in the Intel boost.

The funniest thing about this is the silent implication that the Ethereals - who are explicitly portrayed as omnifascist megalomaniacs bent on conquering and subjugating everyone and everything - looked at the acidic hellscape the Andromedons call home, looked at the egregious casualties resulting from initial forays against them, did some soul-searching, and finally decided, "you know what? gently caress it. Let's call off the invasion and just bribe these guys to be awful and terrifying at someone else. Nobody will know the difference."

Where are you getting all this from?
