Hogama posted:I don't remember any of my XCOM randos. In the moment they're just like "one of the x weapons". I felt this way in firaxcom 1 vanilla, but with training roulette in 1 and the character editor in 2, I definitely felt like they stood out as individuals more. I still remember the ranger I took to endgame on my first playthrough was Robert Muldoon and his trusty shotgun Clever Girl. Oh and my army of predator rejects chomping on big old cigars. Those guys were great.

People said that a bunch, but I found her to more shift from damage to comical levels of cc over a run. She absolutely contributed solidly all game for me and I never felt disappointed rolling her. Combine her with the specialists also comical cc and you could lock down entire maps indefinitely. E: Also, sparks were less bad units and more just... disappointing. Something about all their animations and stuff just felt anemic at all times, be it punching or using their bit as a bomb. They just weren't satisfying to use, and drew comparisons to mech troopers which were incredibly satisfying to use, at all times. Jetamo posted:Sparks are disappointing because there is no extremely excellent punching an Andromedon into next week animation. People focus on the punching, but everything about them feels really floaty and not in touch. The ability where the spark detonate its bit as a portable grenade? Doesn't do cover damage, doesn't really have a graphical effect, just "boop" chip damage in an area. You can probably still hear all the machinery noises from a mech trooper stomping around, but even just moving a spark doesn't feel like a big giant robot man. And their gun sounds downright dinky when compared to the big old charge and boom mech troopers used to have. Heck, do their guns even get a different sound effect from normal troopers?

Look up the alien rulers before you start your game. If they sound like something you want to leave out, there's a pretty dumb process where disabling the dlc just automatically makes them jump you instead.

Not that I'm aware of. The android port seems to be running a handful of mods, so I'm not even sure you could maintain compatability even if you found and transferred the files.

Chaos gate seems to fit the bill all right. Haven't played it, but the reception has been pretty good, and there's an lp of it going on right now if you want to give it a look. It is Warhammer 40k nonsense if that's a deal breaker for you.

chaosapiant posted:I must've missed an update. Why is Xcom 3 never happening? Solomon left firaxis. It's still possible, but it would have a new team lead, and who knows how much of the rest of the team hasn't also left or been shuffled around as is the industry norm.

Xcom 2 spends an awful lot of time teasing a terror from the deep style sequel to be the terror from the deep inspired game.
