It's a mod. I'm on mobile so I can't really look it up right now, but it's something like "soldier info". Filter by UI in the workshop and you'll find it.
Thanks!

You know, something occurred to me, looking through Totalbiscuit's pre-release stream of WotC because I'm bored.

With the Training Center and the AP system, there's now a very strong argument to be made for giving Grenadiers Blast Padding at Corporal instead of Shredder; you don't start seeing enemies with meaningful amounts of armor until a fair bit later on, by which point you can have the training center up and simply go spend the AP to grab Shredder once it's relevant.

That single point of armor from Blast Padding, however, can be incredibly valuable early on. The explosive damage reduction doesn't even matter all that much, it's just that one point of armor.
I think you're right. I've been doing the same thing in my legendary ironman runs, and that single point of armor has been keeping my grenadiers alive in the early months, when they're needed most. And, as you say, you can always take shredder later.

That's actually kind of cool. Is there a list anywhere of the various negative traits and their triggers?

Does a Chosen Avenger mission trigger right away when a Chosen achieves full knowledge, or is there some delay? I'm trying to weight the risks of going after the assassin without plasma on legendary, vs. potentially getting an Avenger mission.

There is a delay, their Chosen activity switches to a "assault the avenger" thing and it will trigger at some point after that. I'm not sure how long or if it's random.
Cool - thanks.

So far using a templar start is the only thing that gave Legendary a good enough boost to start it. The guaranteed melee damage + parry is so good.
Reaper is also a decent pick, as she can effectively solo some missions with explosives, and the information she provides on enemy positions is extremely important.

I kind of feel like Skirmisher is the odd man out in terms of effectiveness.

I've had some pretty frustrating bugs lately.

My campaign's on a knife's edge and, after fending off an avenger assault by the assassin with mag weapons, I want to upgrade to plasma ASAP so that I can go kill the next chosen who achieves full knowledge. Thing is that I'm strapped for elerium, but it's for sale at the black market.

No problem, I think, I'll get some intel by capturing the dark VIP in the mission that just popped. So, I run the mission, capture and extract the dark VIP at the cost of two soldiers. The game tells me that I captured him, but then Bradford pipes in saying that we can't extract intel from corpses. I guess the VIP slipped and hit his head somewhere between big sky and the avenger? Whatever happened, no plasma for me, and the warlock is about to launch another assault...

It just came up in the thread, but is it really the case that you can evacuate out of a retaliation after saving 6 civilians, without losing the region? I tried it a few days ago and it registered as a loss, but I've been having bad luck with bugs lately so I'm not sure what the rule is supposed to be.

Also, L/I is perfect for maintaining an intense experience all the way through plasma. I've been barely hanging on for months of game time. It's great.

I've hacked three times this campaign. It's even more unimportant than usual now.
That said, some of the hacking rewards are really powerful. Like, 50% off avenger scan times, which can set you up for a nice snowball.

If there's a possibility of running into a tower, I usually take a specialist along just in case. And if you're willing to live a little dangerously, the intel that you can get from skulljacking can be a nice supplement to your other sources.

70% chance to instakill an advent soldier is nothing to sneeze at either, especially if it's an rear end in a top hat like a lancer or a shieldbearer.
Absolutely. If I'm trying to skullmine, I'll usually do it as a first move in my turn, so that I'll be able to save the specialist if he whifs. If he hits, it's a very nice way to eliminate an annoying target so that I can focus elsewhere.

It seems pretty suspect that the "world" average for missions failed is 0. Are those stats supposed to relate to the difficulty you're playing on, and do they take into account when making the comparison that you're playing on ironman?

How are people handling ambushes? I don't have a lot of luck either fighting or running; someone dies anyway.
I always just dash through the high ground. Inevitably there's a soldier between buildings who takes a shot at my dudes, but I've never lost anyone in an ambush.

I swear the game is reverse save-scumming. I'll have a fight play out beautifully, then the game crashes. When I reload the save is like 5 turns behind, and I end up losing a dude to unlucky rolls. This has happened several times now, and the most recent instance cost me my SPARK.

No, I've seen it in my missions where I reloaded because of crashes or misadventure of clicks, if I did things exactly the same I'd get the same rolls.
Part of the issue may be that the recovered saves are so far behind that I'm not perfectly replicating my actions, because I don't recall exactly what they were. One change and we're looking at the butterfly effect 5 turns later.

I've even had the game recover a save from before I started a retaliation mission that was like 5 turns in pre-crash, and then it gave me a different retaliation mission. It's bizarre.

To be fair, my game's crashing about once every other hour (to sometimes disastrous effect, as mentioned in my posts above), and I'm not running any mods.

You can't even avoid glitches breaking your run in vanilla, which is horrifying. I tried an I/I EW run awhile back and had a full squad wipe to a pair of glitched out Seekers that went into choke mode on my squad members without decloaking.
To this day, successful completion of my I/I EW run is my proudest gaming moment. Posts like this though really make me wonder how much of that came down to luck.

Like, if that had happened to me, I would have been pissed.
