It's unfinished and will never be finished. Hirano churned out like five or so chapters then promptly forgot about it. It only even got animated as an extra feature.

In any case, it contains zero actually important information that isn't already covered in the series proper so it can safely be skipped/watched later if you're in the mood.

Parts 1, 3, 4, and 7's endings are all earned.

Part 2's is a fluke but it works for thematic reasons. Parts 5's is kinda lazy. Part 6's is kind of a mess.

They had a simple design and Jesse and James were the best.

They had the whole mafia/poacher/underground cock fighting ring thing going on and it really fit well with the world and themes of Pokemon, if you can read that sentence with a straight face. Giovanni was also a really good "Final boss" type character, though he wasn't actually (the final boss, I mean).

A lot of the "Eco" teams and stuff though look ridiculous and their goals don't always make sense.

That said, I'll admit Giovanni's menace in the games was somewhat downplayed by the fact that he used almost exclusively normal and ground type Pokemon which go down like chumps in the late game.

For some reason reading this reminded me of a book I read once, something of a dark comedy, where one of the characters - who was admittedly racist himself - goes on a tirade against other racists because he feels they never give anybody a chance. "His" racism was born from personal experience, living with other people, while "Theirs" was just based off assumptions and presumptions and things they were taught to believe or read in books.

That aside, it's nice when authors make even kinda terrible people human in some way, rather than just bad because they're bad because someone needs to be bad for reasons.
