Chrome / brushed aluminum effect vinyl is cheap. Also, we somehow need to incorporate some John Z Delorean cocaine dealer jokes into this. On the sub $1000 vehicle front: currently working on picking it up this weekend or next weekend. It's bought and paid for. $200 for something with a manual, two doors and rwd is a good start in my books.

We also managed to snag this for $100 on Saturday: We're very confident that $150 universal Z flares off ebay can hide all of the fender lip rust / drivers side dent.

11-1 o'clock steering wheel death grip driver for sure. Totally forgot to post this - the PO of our 7 dug these up for us for $50. We overpaid a little I think, but with a fresh coat of black they should look pretty good. Problem is, I don't want to actually run them on the car unless I can find the side window louvers as well.

I put fire and theft on ours and it lowered my overall monthly insurance costs. Multi vehicle discount = $125/yr where as the cost of fire & theft on a $1000 RX-7 = $74/yr. Ours will also need an insurance inspection within 30 days of my tossing PLPD on it. As soon as the engine goes in and we have tires on it -

I have secured our engine swap time and location. March 19 - 0800 MDT. I also visited the car at said location and made a list of items I should probably bring so that we can drive it back.
The plug wires, rotor cap and plugs were done 5k km prior to the engine making GBS threads the bed so I'll be re-suing those. The only thing on that list that will count against the budget is the exhaust piping I think.

I would like to go on record that in this very thread, I attempted to purchase a 1980 Buick LeSabre Coupe. It's not my fault that all two door rear wheel drive coupes cost more than a grand when running - except for RX7's.

Well today worked out alright. $700 bought us this. Which has had it's Racing Beat Intake, glass and various trim bits sold for $600. Cool Ranch has agreed to buy the entire front end body work, mirrors and drivers window regulator assembly off of us (aka the doors) for $100. Tomorrow is engine compression test time - based on a parking lot pull a plug ear test and the previous owners description, I'm going to say there's a 99% chance we have a good engine to go in to ours. The body is Swiss cheese on it - so any one asking why we don't just run this instead of ours, well there's your answer. It's also a GS not a GSL, so no LSD and rear disk brakes. Makes things easier that way. At least now we don't have to go through the hassle of swapping everything. It has a RB Street Header and straight pipe exhaust which we're keeping, really nice seats, etc, etc, etc. We'll have pictures and a comprehensive list tomorrow. Based on how many guys locally need odds and ends - this whole car might allow us to build Sweet Chili Heat for free.

This is looking down into the rear flank behind the drivers side wheel well. Intake/Carby removed and officially sold/given to generous owner of shop where the cars are currently being stored. The engine is healthy enough to use, so score! I have also tentatively sold the parts cars steering box and headlight motors for $300. Hopefully the buyer doesn't back out and the project is even more in the black by next Saturday. We're fine. "Tis merely a flesh wound. Regarding the coolant: Both cars are outside on prime AB soil (aka sand & clay). The "shop" that installed the Racing Beat intake manifold didn't install the freeze plugs to block off the factory coolant passages which run to the factory intake manifold. So when we removed the intake - we spilled a few cc's of coolant prior to us tightening the intake back up and tossing a catch can underneath prior to trying again. Regarding my electrocution: While diagnosing the parts cars no start condition post compression test, one of the checks was for spark. I pulled out the T1 plug, plugged the spark plug wire back on to it and grounded the plug to the block. DrakeriderCa then cranked it over and in addition to the plug acting as it should, the wire started arcing from the plug boot to my left hand. Right between my middle and ring finger webbing. Drew some blood and looked like most very mild electrical burns do. No start was diagnosed to stuck floats in the carb. We for sure need new plug wires though. Edit: Just heard back from the Doritos Canada PR department, they're putting me in touch with someone who can help. McTinkerson fucked around with this message at 20:15 on Mar 21, 2016 |

You raise a good point Slidebite, I'm still not sure how I really feel about it. I think it boils down to me feeling bad about not inviting someone to the wedding even though they were part of my bachelor party. We're doing everything in our power to keep the wedding small (sub 100) and inviting people from the internet just doesn't jive with that. Now, if those participating are fine with that - then the more the merrier!
