You also need to know how to tape record conversations. We had a manager at my job who tried recording his boss' yelling and verbal abuse. About halfway through the meeting his recorder filled up its storage and started autoplaying everything it had just recorded. A re-org announced the following week had one less managerial position.

So he had proof that he was fired for being a whistleblower on abuse. Shouldn't he be able to use that?

I'm on board with a lot of the other reasons for not liking marine mammal parks, but when I read "Death at Sea World" this sort of felt like a dick move from OSHA specifically to target them. If you can't be in the water with whales because they MIGHT go crazy on someone from time to time, why hasn't OSHA shut down PBR when Bushwhacker and his colleagues come out of the gate fully intending to buck, stomp, gore, the bullrider within eight seconds EVERY SINGLE loving TIME?

You're right. That should be done away with too.

I'm not sure if you're trolling me, but if OSHA came out and said "Any job where you're in close contact with potentially dangerous animals as a form of entertainment is now over with for the employees' safety" then I'd get it. To me, it's like saying "Commercial tuna fishing boats are dangerous to the occupants and nobody can use them anymore...However, commercial swordfishing boats, which have similar incident statistics, will remain legal."

But I only read one book about it. For all I know, bull riders, snake charmers, lion tamers, and Miccosukee alligator wrestlers have a powerful dangerous animal lobby in DC that Sea World never had the sense to join.

I know you didn't mean it in bad faith but some people like to use the "If X is illegal, why is Y that is similar to X still legal? (X should be legal)"

"You're right. Y should be illegal too."

There's the problem. Some people might be willing to sneak it into their cart and act non-chalant when it's scanned. But having shut in's actually ask another human being straight to face for their almost-porn is too much.

Does this count as circling the drain?

The FCC regulates America's commercial satellites. Last year, a Silicon Valley satellite communications company asked them for permission to test a batch of very small experimental satellites. The company was told no, the small satellite's were too hard to track. But they could go ahead with launching bigger ones that were easier to track.

They paid an Indian company to launch the small ones anyways. The FCC is not happy and could strip the company of their license to work in outer space.

That poo poo pisses me off. Purposefully and maliciously went around regulation out of greed and risked the safety of other missions in space.

Yeah, it was a dying mall for the entire time I lived there (2004-2016). The one saving grace is that the comic and game shop was able to take over several of the empty retail spaces for cheap to hold game events. An upscale gym called the Bay Club paid a lot of money to refurbish part of the old Sears and did good business for a while, but even that's gone now while the demolition happens.

All the rest of the malls in the area seem totally fine, though (GreatMall, Valley Fair, Santana Row, and Oakridge).

Oh yeah, Legends. They moved down to the other side of Santa Clara. Don't know if they're still there. They moved again, now in San Jose. That place was depressing as all get-out and they were still the highlight of Valco.

That’s obviously a dumb takeaway to anyone that doesn’t have “racist” in their rap sheet several times.

The phrase is frequently used as “woman I dislike” for misogynists who just want a cool acceptable way to attack women.

This isn’t to defend white women using their privilege to sic the police on minorities. It’s a criticism of misogynists who adopt it for their own purposes.
