The Spinoffs/short stories have more hinting and some straight up implications without fully confirm anything. The Dust spinoff basically outright states his background being quite impressive. Dust is extremely a Konosuba character. Has quite a bit of potential, but it's competently and utterly overshadowed by his myriad of flaws, and unlike the Main Girls, he does not have a Kazuma to reign him in and force some of that potential to shine.
