How much more does it cost to redo your roof if you have solar panels attached to it? I keep thinking about it but I don't think we're more than 5-7 years from needing a new roof and I don't want it to be a nightmare.

If you are in the US, it's better to do the new roof at the same time. Pretty sure you can get the tax rebate on the roof replacement as well if it is part of the solar install. My roof is at the point where it is getting ready to replace, just waiting on a hail storm to push it over the edge so the insurance will pay.

Federal tax rebates for solar do NOT cover costs of roof replacement unless there is some structural reinforcement required to carry the load of the panels. Incremental costs of a reflective roof may qualify.

It seems lots of people are deducting roofs and probably won’t be audited, but it’s still tax fraud

You say that, but permanently adding around 2-3 lbs/sqft probably would mean most people need extra support to hold them. I certainly wouldn't feel safe adding hundreds of permanent pounds of weight to the roof without extra structural reinforcement.

It seems like if WEN had said dynamic discounts instead of pricing they could have gotten the AI bump without the blowback. Just dumb rear end marketing.

Ah, but it's worse than that. Taking it through a carwash voids your warranty, per the TikToker who posted about it.

Doesn't that run afoul of warranty laws? I thought you were protected from things like that or other minor changes voiding the warranty.
