Chrome may be the best browser around, but it eats up your PC’s RAM like turkey on Thanksgiving. Here’s why Chrome uses so much RAM, and how to curb its gluttony.

iirc lots of chome's read only pages are shared between all the helper processes so the actual physical ram it's using is no where near what you'd see if you just sum up the individual working sets

the point is, ladies and gentleman, that ram -- for lack of a better word -- is good.

ram is right.

ram works.

ram clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit.

ram, in all of its forms -- ram for life, for money, for love, knowledge -- has marked the upward surge of mankind.

and ram -- you mark my words -- will not only save yospos, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA.

how is this not quoted more?

What's the actual use case for ecc RAM? Like, ram errors clearly must be either super uncommon or easily rectified, cause the average user doesn't ever see "poo poo is hosed up cause of RAM bit flips"

Is it just like, dedicated hardware that's faster than whatever the alternative way of verifying RAM contents is?

i thought ECC ram was slower but just way more resilient to errors so you would like ~ never bluscreen ~ on your production poo poo or w/e, where non-ECC ram suffers from normal issues of bad ram on occasion

like it takes that out of the equation for you at the expense of cost and slight speed drop, idk tho

apparently its one cycle slower to get going but then overall slightly faster throughput

how does it get slightly faster? i thought it was slower overall, i mean, it's like sanity checking the poo poo so that takes cycles?
