gently caress Ronald Reagan & those Republicans responsible. That said, I think Iran and the United States should mend fences, and I'm glad Obama has been determined to argue for peace.

gobbagool posted:So you do believe that the American Left has more in common with the Iranian ruling class then with American Republicans? How do you rectify that with Iran's official position on things that the American left hold dear? Or you just don't care about gay rights as long as Republicans look bad somehow. Seems pretty hateful and bigoted. Yes American Republicans are the arbiters of gay rights in America and Iran combined. Yes.

Fojar38 posted:Iran has interests beyond its borders just like everyone else. That they are consistently in the crosshairs of the US right-wing doesn't make Iran cool and good and I think that this is what was meant by "Iran isn't an ally of liberals just because the GOP goes crazy regarding Iran" Let's just have normal relations so we can lean on them economically when they do/say hosed up things like we have with most countries since the end of WW2. We don't have to lie and pretend they're actually France, but Saudi and some of our other central Asian allies are just as bad or worse than Iran in daily action, and we negotiate normally with them, why not Iran? Also the propaganda is good timed trollin', and well deserved because Republicans are bastards.
