Yeah, the little red book that came with Amnesiac was one of my favorite physical releases back in the day. Seems pretty rare for artists to put any kind of effort into that sort of thing these days, outside of expensive collectors edition stuff. Its understandable but kind of sad.

Boywhiz88 posted:I meant more the whole "Radiohead's Spectre not being used and Johnny get hosed over with There Will Be Blood." He didn't really "get hosed over", his score for There Will Be Blood incorporated material that was not originally composed for the film and had been previously released, so it wasn't a fully original score and was thus disqualified. I enjoyed that soundtrack a lot and in general hate the Oscars and other awards ceremonies, but that particular incident seems fair.

However, subjective opinion is a hell of a lot broader than that. If you eliminate subjective opinion you are left with little other than plain facts like... Radiohead consists of the following members, they released X album on Y date, they will be touring Z countries, etc. which is information that either everyone here already knows or that simply isn't public and available yet.

I think TKoL is a good album but I don't like it when any band does a new album that sounds like an older one. I wouldn't want another OK Computer or Kid A either (and I thought Amnesiac was different enough to be good). thats why Hail to the Thief is so weak, most of it just sounds like by-the-numbers older Radiohead

wow its almost like music appreciation is a highly subjective, personal experience I don't really understand why people think they are being funny or clever or whatever when they start telling other people that they are "objectively wrong" about preferring this or that song or this or that album and in general being a dick about their opinion. It is, in fact, possible for people to communicate their musical preferences without being assholes about it. Earwicker fucked around with this message at 21:56 on May 13, 2016 |

Genres are best treated as tags, not mutually exclusive categories. A song can easily be "ambient" and "progressive" and "experimental" all at the same time, are you limited to just one? Not sure what system you are using but the more relevant genre tags a song has the more people will easily be able to find it, since different people will categorize the same song differently. Bandcamp's system is quite good for example. Earwicker fucked around with this message at 17:10 on Oct 11, 2016 |
