new kurosawa is out i got chills when it became apparent that the arm wrestling showdown was gonna happen. kurosawa lost though so I was really sad. he was right though. it kind of wasn't fair. the kurosawa from 9 years ago would have won, but the kurosawa from the right now went from a 9 year long coma to being homeless. and being homeless means you dont get to eat well very often if at all. he hasn't had the chance to become strong again.

Ten and Akagi have chunks written at very different points in the fukumoto's career, I think akagi ran on and off for 20+ years? Only truly ending recently. Ten and Akagi do intertwine a lot and I dont even know if there's a read order I'd recommend. Akagi actually ran incredibly consistently. I think fukumoto only once took a year off from writing it, and then the following year released chapters biweekly instead of monthly to make up for the year off.

This one is definitely brutal too though. the thing that differentiates them, to me, is their circumstances. kurosawa was independent. nikaido has been mooching for 10 years. its like if instead of kaiji living with sakazaki for 2 months after the bog, he lived with him for 10 years.
