the talos principle works with radv now! http://airlied.livejournal.com/82099.html

that screenshot has way too much brightness, but as far as I know that issue is fixed in git

is the "looks like dogshit garbage from 2003" issue fixed as well?

presumably there's a reason the demo render looks like something out of the unreal 2 engine

eh.... i mean, to each his own, i saw what they wanted to do but really didn't feel it carried through beyond being a good set of puzzles with some story flavor. the visuals did not grip me, and it can't really be argued that they were some technical tour de force

otoh they certainly are not a random tech showcase, so it makes a good demonstration of a new graphics stack

nintendo's switch was certified as vulkan (and OpenGL 4.5/gles3) compliant.

also glslang has usable hlsl support now and with spirv-cross you basically have write-once-run-everywhere shaders without having to roll your own language or tools. just write hlsl or glsl, compile to spir-v and use spirv-cross to spit out metal and gles shaders. the vulkan ecosystem is already better and more useful than opengl's ever was.

i know nvidia touted it as a feature of their driver at launch, but what is the actual use of this?

i want to try out vulkan compute for video processing, but i don't want to rip out my existing opengl gui.

there's also edge cases, like the oculus sdk not having a vulkan back end yet

is there an extension like glx for vulkan?

the wsi extension handles presentable surfaces. the only platform specific bits are the initialization functions which take a window handle and give you a surface.

that's amd's official linux driver that's supposed to eventually be opened and upstreamed into the kernel, but is a closed blob for now.
