The items that drop are a combination of her items and yours, and she'll even gloat if she manages to grab more stuff that drops than you do for this reason. As the game goes on she upgrades from a broom to a vacuum to a UFO and I think it's explicitly tied to how much she's taken from you, so if you're always faster than she is and come out ahead, she'll be stuck with the broom forever.
