The dividing line between good country and generic, no-talent, absolute poo poo is percussion. If a song has percussion and claims to be country it is absolute poo poo. All the good country everyone is referencing in here has no percussion. I've had doubts about this hard-line stance with Steve Earl, but decided he's rock, not country.
