I like metal, which isn't very chill I guess, but I like it and I'm chill, so whatever

this album is really groovy, but also a little heavy at parts. I really like it. It's like prog stoner power metal or something? I'm not one of those metalheads who likes to classify everything. I don't know if this even counts as metal, anyway. It's just really dope. Also all of the lyrics are about weird arcane science fantasy stuff, which is something I dig personally. But mostly it's just got a really nice groove factor but also rockin high tempo parts.

what do you think about Gods of the Earth and Age of Winters compare and contrast with Warp Riders if you don't mind
I don't love them like I do Warp Riders, but maybe I just didn't give them a chance. Warp Riders has a distinct kind of groovy spacey... something. I am bad at descriptions. Will listen to them again and get back to you with a more in depth analysis, though.

I dig this. It's got like, gutter punk attitude, but the tone is pretty chill overall, but melancholy. The angry but sing-songy vocals are cool and good. It's like... I wanna smoke some crank and punch a cop, but in a pleasant sort of way? Not in a primal gently caress YEAH way like some metal and punk makes me want to punch people. Man I dunno, but I like it.

can I be byob's official music critic?

MrWillsauce

you're a pretty cool guy, you know that?

MrWillsauce

been listening to Metallica's Load a lot at work recently. Sometimes I listen to the album once or twice a day. The first time I heard it, I wasn't digging it, but now it's super fuckin bangin' and groovy. The whole thing has a lot of groove factor, but is also sufficiently angry and heavy, at least when blasted at deafening volumes in my car.

Cure is probably my favorite song on the album at the moment.

The man takes anotha bulleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!

Mama is super chill and melodic and sad and good, though. Total change of pace. Still has the same kind of bluesy tone as the rest of the album, but without the headbang blast factor.

Ronnie is dope too. All the songs are pretty dope.

MrWillsauce

yeah some of it's pretty good. I guess it's like a guilty pleasure? But then I'm like, what do I need to feel guilty for, it's pretty good metal.

MrWillsauce

been gettin into Frank Zappa

dude

MrWillsauce

somebody told me about this dope rear end death-doom band called acid witch.

it's really groovy. This song is really stupid and awesome

also the rest of the album has SPOOOOOOKY halloween synths and I love it

MrWillsauce

drat that's groovy and cool! Recommend me more things please

MrWillsauce

MrWillsauce

yeah I am into stoner metal stuff. That The Sword song is one of my favorites, and Warp Riders is their best album. I really like thrash, and I really like grooviness. Sludge metal is a good intersection of heavy headbangyness and hip-shaking groovosity imo

MrWillsauce

Wo Fat is a really really groovy psychedelic metal band https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzoATR9_SfI

MrWillsauce

Baroness and Mastadon sound nice, but they don't really resonate with me like most good metal does. It just doesn't spark that primal thing inside of me that makes me want to rock out. I don't know how to explain it. I guess they just aren't heavy enough

MrWillsauce

hey symbolic I saw carcass last friday. They were fuckin awesome

MrWillsauce

yeah, the first half of the show was from their new album and some of their really old stuff, which is just okay death metal imo. But then they played the black star riff and did this medley of swansong riffs and then they played keep on rotting and ohhhhh my goooooood it was so good. And then they played a bunch of stuff off Heartwork, which is their second best album imo. Yeah it was super groovy and awesome. Their stuff from the 90s really is the best

e: lol I just peeked at the heavy metal thread. Those guys would probably eat me alive if they read these opinions. but it's how I feel about the music
