I'm honestly wondering if there's any value that she brings to the Democratic table at this point. Everything I've seen about her suggests to me that she's not good at her job, she's pretty anti-progressive in her positions, and she's pretty widely hated by her colleagues.

On the one hand, it'd give him an excuse to claim he didn't really lose because he never really was trying, but on the other Trump is the thinnest-skinned, whiniest crybaby in all of American politics so I'd more expect he'd spend at least the next four years screaming at the top of his lungs that the election was stolen and he really did win and we need to impeach Hillary.

Well that is awful. We worked really hard to put serious limits on them in WA state and they basically managed to weasel out of some of the regulations recently via political donations. It used to be in Seattle that there was a payday loan place every other block on main streets. Now there's like 6 in the whole city that I can think of.

The overall affect of shutting those assholes down has been very positive.

Ah yes, I too remember the last time being objectively wrong stopped Donald Trump from shooting his fool mouth off, like that one time he initially backed birtherism but them immediately ceased so to do when it was glaringly demonstrated to be the worst kind of transparent bullshit.

There is an alternate reality where, instead of studying history and writing about how colonialism and genocide are good and then going into congress and devastating the country, instead young Newton became an entertainer and ended up hosting a Bill Nye/Jack Hanna style science show on Saturday morning television. "Your Pal Newt!" Inspired a generation to study biology, physics, and chemistry instead of chasing a quick buck, to dream of zoos, natural parks, and moon bases instead of apps, hedge funds, and banking.
