There are a lot of laws and regulations concerning the production of medicine.

Getting your lab certified is going to cost a couple million bucks, easy. You could go the clandestine route but enjoy having the Law gently caress you good.

A lot of companies (Kellogg is the big star here) are actually lobbying for a national standard of GMO labeling. That is because individual states are passing regulations that may or may not agree with each other and while it isn't a labeling nightmare yet, it is poised to become one. Anti GMO sentiment is misplaced but very real so the market is responding. Plus, a national system is likely to be much less stringent.

Isaac Asimov spent his life exploring new dark spaces. Him getting HIV is pretty much expected. Plus, he was going to expose the Moon hoax so the government had to kill him.

Ryan White was a real poster child for HIV acceptance.

Hitlery KKKillaton is an able technocrat and a shrewd ratfucker. That is why she has been so effective in all of her appointed positions (including FLOTUS attack dog) but she struggles to be likeable, to connect with voters. That is why she was so effective as senator from NY. Wallstreet hoodrats respect shrewd ratfuckers and their money effectively votes.

But that's not how it plays out in a national election. She's like Nixon. I'm curious to see how deeply queer her presidency gets.

Does anyone remember how after 9/11 a bunch of relief money was spread around as patronage to support people who supported Bush? Indiana had more high profile terrorist targets than New York. It was a little real shitshow and, no, I have no doubt Bush would have left NYC out to dry.

There are two very simple criteria to determine whether you should vote for someone:

1) Is there a <0.1 chance that they're Hitler?

2) Do they believe in global warming?

If the answer to either of those questions is no, do not vote for that person.

While some people are trying to change it, the cutoff is usually 0.05, not 0.1.

Nah. Women are republicans too. They have autonomy and want traditional ish gender roles without condesention. That's half of the republican vote and if you alienate them they will forget to vote.

Why is the establishment Republican party uniting behind a hated rear end in a top hat like Cruz and not a bog-standard turd like Kasich?

It's not just about the political class (who hate Cruz) it's about the donor class. Trump has his own money and his own media apparatus. Big time donors like the Kochs hate that because they have less leverage.

The political class will fall in line with the demands of the donor class, no matter how much they hate Cruz.

That's all coupled with "the devil you know" style triangulation. They hate Cruz but he's a known entity. Trump is a big question mark.

At my college, there were always eyerolling announcements every couple of weeks when some dillweed would tag some pro-Nazi slogan/symbol or KKK or hang a black person in effigy.

Students have always been hypersensitive, and there are always local news anchors trying to make a story out of nothing.

Not new to this thread, but I do see your point. I suppose the question also stands for them as well. I mean, I can understand why people would do it, but at the same time I want to hear they're reasoning, if that makes sense.

Bernie has been running on the platform if economic justice for as long as he's been in politics. Hillary is a fine technocrat and to the left of her husband.

But rather than attacking Bernie on issues, Hillary supporters just tend to shout "racist and sexist" while focusing on the cultural values of states like Alabama and Arkansas. I have no cultural connection to those states. Why should I care? While they aren't perfect, give me good old fashioned Yankee values anyday.

Bernie does fine with northern African Americans (see Michigan). African Americans aren't a hive mind and I care less about issues facing the rural poor (rural issues period) than I do about urban issues.

For example, Atlanta went for Hillary but was close. The rest of the state was not close. But that isn't bring discussed. Bernie does just fine with urban African Americans.
