I just make products and people can buy them if they want to but they don't have to, it's their choice. I try to make them good so people will like them and some of them do and they spend money on it which is nice, but some of them don't and that's okay too, I guess.

I take some solace in the fact that by number most of our users are not captains of industry but rather their ap clerk, receivables manager, accountants, etc. and saving them some time and hassle in their day makes their lives a little easier

i write software for clinical animal testing. i think it's ethical but some people disagree. i previously had a job writing software to improve animal welfare on farms, that also seemed good to me but apparently some people are against farms in the first place i have a friend who is interviewing for a job with bae and i told him they are bad but he said they're going to pay him more money than he gets now

i think the only particular unethical thing about my job is that if i help the company make money then i will be making vinod khosla richer on the upside this means that each paycheck i collect very marginally lowers his net worth, which is an inherently ethical action

I was an intern at a defense contractor many years ago and I will never do it again because of their stupid process and milspec bullshit. but if there was like, a startup for laser guns or death robots I would probably join that.

My software automates railroad switches so that if there's 5 people tied to the track on one route, and 1 person tied on the other, it uses real time analytics on the people to decide who to run over.
