Also shooting wide open requires far less light. It helps because eating ugly food in the dark is par the course.

Candied bacon in desserts always was like those toasted candied pecans to me. It adds a little bit of smoky, saltiness to it. It's stupidly overblown though.

My go-to cheese ball dip is onion, cream cheese, that "chipped beef" you get in the jars, Worcestershire sauce, and as much chili powder as you want in a food processor. Not pretty, though!

I like savouries 10x more than I like sweets, so I'd totally try a savory doughnut. Maybe that's why my fave are those maple "long johns" with the salted peanuts on the top.

Also, because this keeps coming up, American Cheese is a real thing that isn't Kraft singles, those are American style/flavoured. American cheese is a 2.5 to 1 to 1 ratio of Sharp Cheddar, Comte, and aged Gouda. It's combined via heat, white wine, sodium citrate, and some sort of binding agent, usually carrageenan gum.
