Precinct dump from the Big Island, up to 23/45. I'm going to call it a night. Trump likely has this, he's up by 14. Even if the big Oahu provinces are pro-Cruz, they'd have to be overwhelming to overturn this.

Rubio would probably have done a lot better in Hawaii if he hadn't just cratered in three states when the caucuses opened.

those silly directiondeskers my favorite part of the nyt hawaii map is voteless kalawao county. it's literally a leper's colony https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalawao_County,_Hawaii quote:The small peninsula of Kalaupapa is isolated from the rest of Molokaʻi by sea cliffs over a quarter-mile high—the only land access is a mule trail. As of the 2010 census, the population was 90, making it the least-populous county in Hawaii and the second-least populous county in the United States after Loving County, Texas. so it's a literal leper's colony. i'm guessing it's wrapped into a precinct under mau'i county and just doesn't show up that way on the map - or maybe it will, when that precinct votes. i posted links to the hawaii state gis poo poo for the moloka'i precinct maps but im too lazy to look at it again

SpiderHyphenMan posted:Rubio does not crave power. Rubio craves respect. There is no respect in being the Vice President of Ted Cruz. I think this is correct. He's such a raw nerve. I keep using that metaphor for him, but it fits so well. There's a lot of pathos in that diminutive package. I'd feel sorry for him, but then I remember, "Oh wait, he's an unbelievable rear end in a top hat."

Cardboard Box A posted:https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/707029354921009152 Update: Hope Hicks, Donald Trump's communications director, clarified Donald Trump's relationship with the Hawaii hotel bearing his name. "He licenses his name for millions of dollars, meaning he has no downside but a lot of upside. There's no risk for him, he makes a lot of money doing that," she told CBS News. "And he also has a management contract with the owner, so he's the operator of the hotel. And it's operated by Trump Hotel Collections, meaning that when an employee gets a paycheck, [it's from] Trump Hotel Collections. He manages the property. He employs the people that work there." CBS News ran a story that said that Trump's claim that he employs "many people" at the Trump Hotel Waikiki was false, based on a disclaimer at the bottom of the hotel's website that suggested the relationship between Trump and the hotel was strictly a licensing deal.

Real Clear Politics posted:It’s furious with Washington, Wall Street, hedge funds, big banks, lobbyists, fat cats in corner offices—all of them cutting special deals for themselves while average folks are left out. Voters know their real incomes are down. They know their retirements are in jeopardy, their kids are loaded with college debt, and everybody is looking at a tough job market. We are not in a recession, mind you, and employment is actually growing. No matter. All across the country, voters are saying, “We’re mad as hell and we aren’t gonna take it anymore.” That’s why the most damning indictment this year is to be called an “establishment candidate.” The second most damning is to receive Mitt Romney’s endorsement. If there was a ballot option for “tar-and-feather the lousy SOBs,” it would win in a landslide. Tuesday night proved it again.
