looking to get a burr grinder since according to the internet i've been doing it wrong all this time with a bar grinder for my french press

any recommendations or will any poo poo do the job?

if you want a relatively low cost but still reasonable one, i have this and i think so do a couple others itt: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cuisinart-DBM8U-Coffee-Grinder-Brushed/dp/B00B0W451W

been using it for several years and it does the job, it's a flat grinder though. the more expensive cone grinders will give you better and more consistent control over the fineness of your grind

I use this brand and basically follow the directions on the back:

one scoop ground beans, 1/2 tsp sugar, lukewarm water. Balance it on the burner plate, stir every 30 seconds or so, stop right when it begins seriously bubbling.

cool i'll have to try and find some, only ever drink turkish coffee when i go eat greek

you can get coffee at camping stores that comes in a bag with an internal filter and you just pour in hot water, let it brew, then pour out the other side. they're not that terrible, at least compared to no coffee

otherwise if you don't mind the extra weight & bulk i sometimes take a moka pot

sometimes if i can't find a coffee making device i just pour water directly onto the grounds and drink that very carefully. you have to blow on it to break surface tension and let any floating grounds sink
